EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Hey, if Marvel can have Johnny Blaze and Captain America as the same actor, I don't see why DC can't have the Green Lantern and Batman as the same actor...

To be fair, F4 isn't Marvel's as far as movie rights, and they are in the midst of rebooting that series.

I've wanted Idris Elba to do it for awhile but that doesn't have a chance in hell of happening.

From an article about who could play Batman next:

Pros: Anyone who’s seen Luther knows this man is a beast. He literally explodes on screen. He can slam his hand on a desk and make your television shake. The experience he has playing a detective could go toward making a very convincing and refreshing take on the character, one unlike any we’ve seen before. He has the charm nailed down, the eyes that struggle to disguise the inner pain and turmoil. He is obviously an impressive physical specimen and would be intimidating under the mask. Forty next year, he is also at the perfect age to carry on the character where Nolan and Bale leave him.

Cons: Yes, Bruce Wayne is not and has never been black, but in Thor this summer Elba played Heimdall, a character that has always been portrayed as white. Hell, if he can play a Norse god he should certainly be allowed a crack at Batman. Everything about him makes him the perfect candidate.

Heimdall ain't exactly a leading man. I'd rather see Elba as John Stewart in a GL film. Or if it's gonna be Batman, make him Batwing.

That's why Marvel did it right, you've got a black/hispanic Spider-Man but it's not Peter Parker, it's Miles Morales.

I agree, just thought it was interesting that he wasn't the only one bringing up Elba.

Another name mentioned in the article, especially if they don't reboot it and stick with the older Bruce was Jon Hamm from Mad Men. He'd make a great Bruce but I don't know how he'd do in the suit.

Jon Hamm has been linked to an older Superman before Cavill came in. You're right though, he could probably do a great Bruce Wayne.

Either way, Batman's gonna have to take a vacation for a little while. Most people would have a hard time not picturing Bale playing the character (including me).

And the amount of racist whining for him playing Heimdall was bad by itself, I can only imagine what would be said if they made him Batman.

Never even heard about that! I wonder if they'll do the same once they find out Perry White (Daily Planet Editor-in-Chief) is being played by Laurence Fishburne.
