Re: The Dark Knight Rises
SpoilerMaybe to leave it for Blake? I don't know.
I still tend to lean towards Bruce living and it not being a dream sequence, but there is a lot of weight to hold up the other side of the argument. We haven't even mentioned some of the lines throughout the trilogy like "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain" or Selina saying "There are no fresh starts in today's day and age" (or something along those lines), which is what is implied at the end - that Bruce is starting fresh and no one but Alfred and Selina know where he is or that he's alive.
But again, I still take the ending at face value and think Bruce truly did live.SpoilerYeah that's something I've noticed too. Each Movie had clues for what was to come....

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Spoilermy main thing is why mention auto-pilot being fixed if he's not going to survive anyways. Also another thing that came to mind is I wouldn't put it past Nolan to should Batman seeing this is his final moment as Batman but that image probably happened before the bat is at the sea anyway. For me I think Batman gets out of the bat when he fires at the building and there was a bunch of smoke behind the batSpoilerExactly. And the tracking device was still in the pearl necklace, which is how Bruce was able to let Alfred find them and show that his wish had finally become a reality.
Honestly, I think trying to view this all as a dream is just a case of thinking too hard. Bruce is very much alive at the end, and multiple factors clearly point to that being the case.
Yes, it seemed like he didn't have enough time to escape The Bat, but it's still ultimately a trilogy about a guy dressing up like a bat and fighting crime... some truths are going to be stretched.Comment

I have seen Inception probably around fifty times now, saw it right before TDKR, and if I watched TDKR another fifty times without reading anyone else's opinion on the film, it would not have ever crossed my mind that the ending is perhaps a "dream sequence." In all honesty, it sort of sounds made up, like something people are just searching for, like an ink-blot test or a cloud in the sky.
But who knows? Maybe Nolan meant for there to be ambiguity. I also thought it was crystal clear that Blake is supposed to be the next Batman, not Robin or Nightwing. But again, everyone is jumping around claiming "Robin" to be the next hero in Gotham. That just doesn't seem right to me.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
One thing I would have liked to see in The Dark Knight Rises:
SpoilerThe police officers were trapped underground for three months but remained relatively well kempt for the duration. They emerged with tidy uniforms and cleanly shaven faces. I feel what really may have provided an extra edge to the uprising would have been to have these officers depicted more closely to what they may have looked like had they been trapped underground for that long in real life: relatively ragged, likely dirty, unshaven, and generally weary and pissed off. I think it only would have re-affirmed that they were part of the city as well - struggling and battling to rise back up.
I loved the scene where the police officers gave a battle cry and began charging at Bane's people (in the street war). I just wish we could have experienced it on a little deeper, drawn out, and violent level. When the head of police is supposedly gunned down and killed, there's really no hint of injury on his body. I guess basically, I would have liked to have seen a real war-like scene, not well-dressed, hygenic cops mock fighting. I half blame the PG-13 rating.Comment
