If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :) -
Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Considering its essentially the same handful of people knocking these "plot holes", I'd say this trilogy just isn't meant for some people, lol.Last edited by DickDalewood; 08-26-2012, 04:15 PM.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I don't mean it in a negative way, and it's not an assumption. Reading through the last almost half of this thread, it's clear some are able to look past certain things, and some are not. Hence, this movie just isn't going to be liked by certain people (again, not an assumption... mainly just a "no ****", lol).
Opinions are just that, and no amount of "convincing" is going to do much to change anyone's mind. Some see things as bad writing, some see things as "that's just how things had to happen".
Like I said, not a negative, just the way it is.Last edited by DickDalewood; 08-26-2012, 10:23 PM.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I know I'm late to the party but I finally saw it last nite (have had a really busy summer) and I thoroughly enjoyed it for what it was. A appropriate ending to the trilogy.
Did it drag at times and a bit overlong. Sure but you could say the same for TDK. Was there plot holes? A few but since there has never been a movie ever made that didn't have plot holes then they can be excused as it wasn't glaring. Go watch the last few seasons of Dexter and then you'll see what glaring plot holes are.
All in all a worthy successor to TDK, which had alot of problems but is generally by most overlooked because of the Joker, and tied up things nicely at the end. While TDK had the better villain, Bane was almost as good and hopefully the BR cleans up his early dialogue because I couldn't understand every third line coming out of his mouth.
Wanted a more memorable end for Bane (seemed like a typical cheezy comic book demise) but the action scenes in general were markedly better than the other films (except for the truck sequence in TDK) and the 1st fight sequence between Bane and Batman was the most tense scene out of all 3 movies and had my heart pumping.
People think this should be Citizen Kane but it's a comic book movie and Nolan knows this. Sure it's set with a somewhat realistic tone but it's meant to entertain and that's what it did. I felt exhausted in a good way at the end but it could have cut about 10 minutes off just to improve the pacing as the scenes before Wayne's escape from the prison did drag quite badly.
TDK had some pacing issues but since the Joker was involved in many of those slower scenes, it was ignored for the most part because people wanted as much Joker screen time as possible.
Expectations were huge so you know people are gonna whine about little things here and there and try to compare it to the TDK which gets too much love simply because of the Joker. All 3 movies had problems but it is easily the best comic trilogy as a whole. And I liked how Batman\Wayne was a central character again as he was lost in the shuffle in TDK to the Joker and Harvey Dent which I found to be that movie's biggest flaw and the biggest flaw in the entire trilogy as you simply don't allow the main character to fade into the background for almost an entire film.Comment

I'll take it with a grain of salt considering where its sourced from as I'm not familiar with Nuke the Fridge.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Honestly, if the novel is any indication of what the director's cut would be like, I'd welcome the addition, but I probably wouldn't prefer it. Not that it ruined things that the theatrical version had going for it, but you're only looking at a few extra minutes, tops. I'm glad that some of the lines/moments were done without in the theatrical cut.
On the other hand, it has one or two shining bits as well.
As far as the Bane back story, if anyone cares...
Spoiler... all the novel did was add a few more clips during Talia's spiel, as she has the knife in Bruce's rib cage. This included going through things like Bane doing the same kind of training with Ra's that Bruce did in the mountains.
EDIT: Well, just read the article. If there is indeed a 30+ minute extension, then that is unlike the novel (and, in this case, the shooting script as well), and I would very, very much be interested in seeing that!Last edited by Blzer; 09-05-2012, 08:32 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Well if this is true that there are some lengthy deleted scenes about Bane's back story then it is somewhat bewildering that Bane's demise was somewhat cheezy and main purpose was to seemingly give Catwoman a witty line. A big criticism I found with the climax was the overused cliche of the hero's ally only being involved for thier own personal gain and then the hero saved at the last second after that ally has a change of heart.
The joker's anti climatic end was a pet peeve of mine in TDK. Nolan is good at giving the villain some depth but falters in giving them a memorable send off.Comment
