This episode only strengthened my belief that the Survivors are in a constant loop with the island.
In the end, it'll be revealed that through time travel, they are the original hostiles that inhabited the island. They can never leave and if they do, eventually they'll all be brought back.
It's why all their stories intermingle at some point in their life. Like Desmond said "See you in another life brother". Well they're all living multiple lives via the island and these crazy time worm holes.

That 4-toed statue? I can almost guarantee that one of the Survivors will lose a toe at some point between now and the season finale. And that person will have traveled back in time when the island had some indigenous society. Those people will exhalt this Surivor with 4-toes a god (because they can predict the future, eclipses, etc) and raise a statue in their honor.
It's why you never saw the face of the statue. Because it's going to be someone like Sawyer, Locke or Desmond.
And chances are that same person will be "Jacob".

Yikes... I wasn't able to watch the show and pay complete attention as I was doing something at the time...

Did they explain Dharma fully? How was there a full crew of people from Dharma still on the island and we haven't really seen them up to this point? Was that explained?

The last flash took them back to 1974 when Dharma was still active.
The flashes have now stopped and they're stuck in this era.

Regarding the flashes I think the headaches and nosebleeds are similar to The Butterfly Effect, in that part of their brain was re-wired to introduce new memories or delete old ones.

That's why none of them have any recollection of their previous lives on the island.

I wouldn't be suprised if that statue was Locke(but I am not sure how they'd fit that in), but that would mean that they just decided to write that in because they dismissed that in earlier discussions. They stated it was simply to signify that people had been there a long time. I think they may be done time traveling.

I am not so sure I'd agree about the constant time loop and being indigenous people. For a few reasons:

Once the island started moving and they were racing through time, they had all knowledge of their past. The Losties had years and years of memories in the outside world. Locke was born in the United States and went into foster care. There would be serious holes created.

If the indiginous people were tied to the island forever, Widmore wouldn't be living on the outside and aging.

I think what happened is the original plane in season 1 crashed as a result of the original plane crash and thats your loop. It will happen again if Faraday doesn't intervene.

The easiest way to describe it, if I even can, is that the Oceanic flight crashed because it originally crashed the Losties went through their ordeal, the island got moved, they thraveled back in time, met Widmore, etc. He put them(specifically Locke) on a plane that was going to crash and return them to the island so he could do things differently and keep Widmore on the island. Rinse and Repeat. Its Groundhog day, yes think Bill Murray until Faraday does something to prevent the staus quo time loop from repeating.

Why the hell would Sawyer kill Jack? That would ruin the show if it were to happen. He has ZERO reason to kill him.

I think it's possible that the whole world is in the 70s, but it looked like the Hydra Island was present day. This is also proven by the time jump when the Losties beach was built and they started getting shot at by the boat with the Ajira water bottles.

No problem.

I think this time travel will also explain the numbers that were broadcast over the radio. These numbers are like a homing beacon for Hurley and other people that have crashed on the island.
Because the island is constantly moving through time, whoever started all of this, new that these numbers would win the lottery for Hurley. That's why it's no coincidence that the numbers on the hatch, the added numbers of the button pressing, or the lottery ticket are the same.

I think in the last episode, all of the survivors, including Ben, Widemore, Richard, etc. will be shown how they're all stuck on a continous, never ending loop in their connection with the island.
And then the season finale will end with all of their memories being wiped from a flash and the next scene we'll see all the survivors boarding Oceanic 815 heading for LA. They'll look at each other and have a sense of deja-vu before the plane crashed onto the island.

Thats what I posted last night, technically there should be a little Harry Potter looking devil child named Ben running around. But I'm not sure if that will happen because Ben is on the island. Or if the Smoke Monster will decide that there can't be 2 Ben's at once and dispose of 1.

I am sure you'll see a younger Widmore running around.

Horace Goodspeed...the man who built Jacob's shack, the one Locke saw in a dream with a bloody nose, the guy who offered to drive Ben's dad off-island to the hospital after his wife died in childbirth...WOW!!

Should be interesting going forward. Seeing Richard Alpert all prim and proper talking to Horace, and then remembering how disheveled, shaggy, and dirty he looked when he appeared to a young Ben...how did that happen?

As for the statue, my first gut reaction was that it was the back of Juliet. The long hair in particular (though it looks like the statue is wearing a crown of sorts).

Cool, I wanted to se a picture of that statue. Looks like it has wolf ears. I think it will end up being insignificant.

It looks like a sphinx statue. Also, look at its right hand. Looks like it COULD be carrying the same necklace Amy took from her dead husband.

Good catch. Although they are Dharma and not Hostiles it would seem more like someone like Alpert would be wearing a symbol of the statue.
