Plus we got the connection between jacks dad in the coffin and coming back to life on the island and now the same happening to locke.

The question I have is why did ben kill locke then go thru all the effort protecting his body to bring it back to the island. Does Ben know locke will come back to life when he reaches the island? Does Ben know about Jack's father being alive?

I thought it was an amazing episode.

I agree. I actually really enjoy these episodes where you see what happened during a certain time frame. It's a filler episode, but it was a GOOD filler ep.

He was going to say Jin was alive anyway. Ben's Method to get people back to the island is make them feel like they have nothing here i.e. Jack, Killing Sayids Wife, taking Aaron away from Kate, etc. OR in the case of Sun who had alot in the outside world, a child, a mother/family, and Hurley a more simplistic life on the island.

If someone gave me my wife's wedding ring, I'd assume she was dead and the body found, not that she was alive.

I understand Walt's a kid and he's been through "enough", but it still doesn't make sense. They've all been through "enough".

Pretty sure they wrote Walt in just to end his story so people would stop asking what happened to him.

That's how it seemed to me; everyone, even in this thread, has made mention of "why doesn't Walt come back?" etc. etc....this answered that. End of story. He never knew people were going back because Locke didn't want to have to explain to him that his dad was dead.

I'm under the assumption that once Ben heard "Eloise Hawking" he had no use for him anymore, therefore he killed him. Ben probably doesn't realize that Locke is going to be alive when they get back to the Island. They really pushed last night that Widmore is the good guy and Ben is the bad guy last night, but we shall see.

Really the most telling thing this year is what Desmond said. They are all just pawns in a much larger game.

Edit - One thing that really bothered me....

Going back to season four, the "conversations" Locke had with the Oceanic Six aren't nearly as important as they characters made them seem at the time.

I mentioned this after last week's episode, S5 seems pretty pointless so far. It's basically filling in the blanks while barely progressing the storyline. I've been pretty disappointed with this season.

But next week we're promised a thousand shocking twists and turns so we'll see. I assume the O6 meet up with the Losties who stayed on the Island, looked that way from the preview.

Pretty sure Ben ends up being the good guy. The whole doubting Thomas thing. In the end everyone will be convinced.

If you can kill people now, Like Ben Killing Locke and have Locke be back alive again, then I'm pretty sure that Ben will find a way to readjust time in the end so all his murderous shenanigans really didn't have an impact. Reset everything back to the point of his birth and relive everything differently or something along those lines.

Yeah, I know, don't tell me, Locke's alive because he's "special". Jack's dad apparantly is alive too. Or is that just some apperition?

What are the Oceanic 6 really going back for....Yeah, Yeah to save the others Losties, but then what? What really is their mission. Save them to only become miserable like the O6?

If this is the case this is a big time disappointment. So many questions about his gift and how he saw things and how they tie in to the show. This really bugs me as does the whole Ben being a 3 or 4 episode character and now the whole show is centered around him. This show the producers and writers have a general idea about the stroy arc, but they can make up a lot in between.

I was afraid of this after season 4, just because that season was amazing and moved so quickly. This season is on pace with season 2 & 3, but it's just dissapointing coming off of season 4.

It seems like the past 2 weeks, we've learned only one new thing each episode. Why was Jin in the dharma uniform and why did ben kill locke. Everyone knew all along that all of the oceanic 6 was going to come back to the island, and not much happened last night besides Ben and Widemore's conversations with Locke.

As of now S5 is the second worst season behind only S2. I thought S1, 3 and 4 were all phenomenal.

I would be interested to hear what ABC thinks about the ratings. Last night's show dipped all the way down to a 5.9/9. The previous week, they lost 2 million viewers compared to the previous week. Lost did go up against American Idol last week,but so did Criminal Minds, and that show got a 9/0/14.

I was talking to my co-workers the other night, and they were surprised when I told them a lot of shows get better ratings than Lost. Heck, the Bachelor this season, is higher rated than Lost and 24.

I'm not saying Lost is in danger of being cancelled, but the show has lost millions of viewers.

Here's something I can't quite get my arms around....

Try to follow because its hard to explain.....

When Faraday visited Desmond at the hatch. Desmond awoke out of his sleep on the boat with Penny and knew that Faraday needed Desmond to visit his mother. So it was like it got implanted in his mind in the present even though Faraday was jumping backwards in time. But Faraday was jumping back from present time so Desmond did not have knowledge of this conversation until the present even though Faraday jumped back to the past to talk to him.

Now enter Locke. He met Widmore when Widmore was 19 jumping back through time at the same time Faraday is. It would appear that Widmore had knowledge of this his whole life. As evidenced by that Black guy being Locke's orderly when he was in the hospital.

Did I explain that correctly. Desmond gets visited and doesn't have knowledge until the present when the jumps occur.

It would seem that should be the same for Widmore, but its like he's had the knowledge of Locke's visit for years.

The Desmond scenario shows that you can't alter the future. Meaning I couldn't jump back to 2000 and talk to Mr. X and expect Mr. X to have lived a completly different life up until now. Just now in 2009, today he would begin to recall things about our meeting. But nothing would have changed up until now.

The Widmor example shows that Widmore has lived a life predicated on Locke's visit to Widmore when he was 19. Hence he hired the orderly to be with him when he was paralyzed and got him to go on the walkabout so he would crash on the island.

The Widmore example almost makes me positive that Ben will rewind time and erase all his heinous deeds. It will all have been for the greater good.

The Desmond scenario makes no sense because he should have looked for Hawking immediately after he got off the island if the above Widmore example hold true.

I believe that DVR'd shows don't count towards ratings and Lost is supposedly the most DVR'd show on television. No idea if that's true or not.

Jin was in a Dharma uniform because that timeline is stuck in the 70's, which is why the new character explained how Hurley got "sucked" off the plane. So, I think, the Oceanic Six are in the 70's with Dharma and the other Losties, and the new characters from 316 are in present time.

I'm curious to know who Lapidus took one of the boats with, since he described a woman. You would think Sun, but she would have been sucked off the plane,

I'm curious to how much money the dvds and blurays bring in? If they are making nice profit on this it probably doesn't matter as much as long as advertisers keep paying money to advertise.
