Re: ESPN is now dead to me!
Hey VDusen, do you get NBCSN? They have a morning show called The Lights coming up Aug. 13 that looks like it could be close to what FSN was doing with Final Score. Might be worth a look.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 08-09-2012, 12:56 AM.Comment

Re: ESPN is now dead to me!
Definitely appreciate the heads up. I'll be looking into that. I don't have cable, but there's enough occasions when I'm somewhere with cable that this is very good information to know. Is NBCSN leaving their mark at all, or are they still an afterthought in the scheme of things?Comment

Exactly the kind of thing that made me stop watching ESPN months ago. Channel is a joke. MLB Network, NBA TV, NFL Network and NBCSN are vastly better now in my opinion. The Ohio State University
Cincinnati Reds
Cincinnati Bengals

Re: ESPN is now dead to me!
I've been spending time at a friend's house and then home with family for the past week (they both have cable, I do not). I feel like Brooks in The Shawshank Redemption trying to adjust to life outside of the clink. I'm just struggling to accept the new reality that is modern ESPN and Sportscenter.
I can't handle Sportscenter running modern pop hits coming back from commercial break (full with song title and artist in the bottom left corner) while Linda Cohn jives in her seat and says, "Oh, this song is so good. Mmm. So good." I struggle to accept Neil Everett performing a live skit of smashing a long donut into his mouth and then attempting to read baseball highlights.
The good news is I just now re-stumbled upon ESPNEWS. I swear the last time I was on XFinity (a while ago), ESPNEWS didn't have an HD option. Maybe I just didn't know what I was doing. Now I'm giving Highlight Express a shot. So far they've served up an NBA Finals mini-movie recap, USA soccer highlights, and French Open bits. Not too bad so far. I could do without the mini-movie, but at least nothing seems to be supplemented with inane analysis banter, so that's a big plus. It seems to be a lot close to what I'm looking for. Here's hoping MLB highlights are plentiful for the rest of the show.Comment

Re: ESPN is now dead to me!
I almost spit out my soy milk when they were interviewing D-Wade's fashion adviser the other day.
They actually spent about five minutes talking with her.
Wilbon, Magic, Jalen and Simmons have absolutely 0 chemistry for their NBA Finals coverage. Their laughs and smiles are forced, and their analysis is the same old canned song and dance.
Fox Sports 1 starts on August 17th. Counting the days.Comment

Re: ESPN is now dead to me!
I only watch one thing on ESPN and that is MNF. So for the rest of the year I don't deal with the mess. I'm not sure when I stopped watch too, but it's been years maybe three to four years now where I just don't watch the channel except for MNF. HATES ITComment

Re: ESPN is now dead to me!
Canadians don't get ESPN, but we have TSN(which is Canadian equivalent to ESPN(which makes sense since ESPN owns 20% of that channel)), and they have some things horrible too.
They replay sporting events later in the day because the original airing was either too early in the day, or just aired when most people are at work or school.
The problem with that....they have an annoying sports ticker at the bottom of the screen during the entire replay, and it SPOILS the results of the event they're replaying! How much stupider can they be? You tell people that if they missed an event, they can watch it later on your channel, but during the entire event, you're showing people the results of the thing at the bottom of the screen!!
This isn't the first time they've done this, they've also done this during World Junior Hockey Championships in the winter(I believe it was happening in Russia, so there was huge time difference), they showed the event during the day for people who didn't watch it at 4am, but at the bottom of the screen while replaying the event, they kept on showing the FINAL SCORE of that game!
They did the same thing during the olympics too! Since Olympics were in London, events happened earlier in the day, but when replaying the events, they TOLD PEOPLE who won right before they showed the event.....Comment
