Re: ESPN is now dead to me!
I don't think it's that. They always played the "girly" Greeny and "manly man" Golic pretty well, but it's just the topics and vapid discussion that bother me.
I think we here are smarter than the average sports fan, and as such, we require more than pointless "analysis" that doesn't really analyze anything at all.Comment

I love Dan Patrick's radio show. Interesting topics and great guest interviews. And the Danettes bring some unique aspects to the show.
I hate Mike & Mike for the same reason I hate nearly all other ESPN personalities: they just refuse to drop their ****ing shticks. Thank ESPN lifer Chris 'Boomer' Berman for it, imo, as he's the network's originator of the ****ty shtick and the first to run it into the ground and continue on as if no one had noticed.Comment

Mike and Mike are so bland and tired.Comment

Re: ESPN is now dead to me!
Other than live events, I don't really watch ESPN much anymore, but it was on at the gym today so I watched some. SportsCenter was almost entirely about the Heat. No hockey, no baseball.
ESPN covers the Heat like NBC covers Team USA during the Olympics.Comment

Re: ESPN is now dead to me!
ESPN radio in LA is head and shoulders better than what they have on Fox. Ever since Max Kellerman came, ESPN LA got a lot better. He has to sell the Lakers even when they are bad, which can be annoying, but he always talks sports in an entertaining way unlike Fox. Mason & Ireland and Colin Cowherd are good too. They beat out the guys on Fox.
I do appreciate how ESPN pushes the World Cup every four years though. Couldn't be happier about that.
I agree on Jim Rome. He should not be doing interviews or reporting. Talking smack is the ONLY thing he does well. I hope Showtime gets rid of him soon.Comment

Re: ESPN is now dead to me!
The funny thing is even though the anchors on SportsCenter and the other shows they have make little jabs at soccer at any chance, their soccer coverage is actually very good (if you ignore Alexi Lalas saying outrageous things). It's going to be sad when the World Cup goes to Fox.Comment

Fox Sports has a national channel coming out: Fox Sports 1.
Maybe... Just maybe... They'll try to fill the void left by ESPN's ineptitude when it comes to non-live sports programming.

Re: ESPN is now dead to me!
Edit: Here's what the article really said:Fox Sports says viewers should think of Fox Sports Live as multiple shows inside a three-hour bloc. Onrait and O'Toole will appear on one side of a studio doing highlights while Charissa Thompson hosts a rotating panel of analysts, athletes and network personalities on the opposite side.Last edited by VDusen04; 06-29-2013, 11:32 PM.Comment
