Nope, when you order it online, it will show you the normal monthly cost and then what you will be paying. I think it will even show you any taxes and fees that have to be included. You can fill it out online and get to the point of giving you the price without finishing the order.

When the new HR24s come out, is there any trick for existing customers to upgrade to those? Those look nice and if the guide really is faster, I want to trade my sluggish HR21s in fast!

Just had DirecTV installed today. I always thought my TV was a little iffy, but it turns out it was U-Verse. From the sounds of it, I was at the end of the line for U-Verse, so my signal was weaker. Watching the Cavs game right now and it's night and day from the picture on Sunday.

Anyone gotten the whole home DVR yet? That thing might get me to switch from DISH.

There isn't really a "Whole Home DVR" yet. There is the HR24, which is nice, but I wouldn't call it a DVR for the whole home. It only has 2 tuners, so you can still only record 2 things at once. You can get multiple DVRs though if you want to record more instead of just the HD receiver.

I've had the MRV service, now Whole Home DVR, for 1 year or so. It is great, you can watch any recording on any HD receiver or DVR. I do wish I could have 1 unified season pass list and be able to record to the other DVR from the other one.

Just a note - If you upgrade your account to that Whole Home DVR they charge you $150, $100 for the hardware and $50 for the install. When I told them to forget it they did offer to knock off $30 from the install fee but I declined.

I just saw the advertisment on TV. Right now I have the VIP from DISH, but you can only get SD on your second TV.

I had the whole home thing installed at my house a couple weeks ago. I have one HR24 and two HR21 DVRs, so I have lots of DVR space now which is nice.

You can use your own network for free, it is also free for new customers to get the install/hardware.

Dish doesn't offer any MRV. They offer the ability to pass the 2nd tuner output to another tv. The 2nd tv does not have another receiver, cannot watch tv,, etc without the 1st tv. With DTV, you have a receiver or DVR at tv 2, can watch live tv and then record 2 things on the other receiver.

Dish might have some more options with the Slingbox, but don't confuse it with the options from DTV, Comcast, Tivo, Uverse. They are not the same.

That's what I'm thinking. I have an HDTV in the bedroom, but no hd signal because of the duo box

So I decided to work 60 hours this week. 20 Hours worth of Overtime which is Time and a Half. Add in the amount of tips I got from work for the sole purpose of getting Direct TV so I can get NFL Sunday Ticket, NCAA College Gameplan, and NBA Full Court.

I looked into Gameplan last year, but it really wasn't worth it whenever I could watch the games they offered on ESPN3.com for free. The sports package is a must have during college football season.
                            NFL: Green Bay Packers
                            MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies
                            NBA: Denver Nuggets
                            NHL: Colorado Avalanche, Pittsburgh Penguins
NCAA: Air Force Falcons, Penn State Nittany Lions

hmm that is true. Having EPSN3.com and the sports package it would be a waste of money.

I asked them if I could use my own network and they said no. And since I'm not a new customer I guess I won't be having the Whole Home DVR service anytime soon.
