And then double that high end and we're getting close. She isn't fat, but she was tiny before.

I think this is the danger. Every time some famous woman gains or loses a few pounds, she becomes senator for the next movement in the world approved waistline.

Jessica Simpson likes cheese and butter. That's why she's squeezing four rolls between the bottom of her bra and the top of her first leopard belt. That's not healthy weight gain, especially considering her previous size. It's not like she just stopped some extreme diet. This girl is eating onion rings at two o'clock in the morning.

It's not about how much weight she's gained, but what kind of weight she's gained. Just because she's given in to Little Debbie doesn't mean we should start applauding her.

I don't care what weight you are. It's a bad idea to stop working out and start eating cake. The human body isn't meant to go through such drastic changes. This isn't the answer to too-skinny Hollywood standards.

At the rate she's going, age isn't going to be very kind of Jessica.
And, at this rate, she's gonna be a salary cap victim on Team Romo.

media/government/celebs dont want to educate everyone on the real way to be healthy... theres no money in that.

True. Also, look at the fashion industry. I won't go into detail, but who dominates the fashion industry? Who influences it? Do the people who run the fashion industry have an interest in healthy, attractive women?

I won't get into it any further than that.

Re: Anybody seen Jessica Simpson lately?

Yeah Born, I don't mean it like that.. not just praising her for gaining weight. It's pretty clear that she basically let herself go (you're right that the weight is in the wrong places and doesn't look healthy)... She did say that she is happier being curvy, and that's mostly what I was alluding too -- that's a more healthy attitude for women to have these days than always striving for the basically impossible Hollywood twig goal, resulting in unhealthy diet and even more unhealthy mental attitudes/self-esteem. Obesity or just being totally unhealthy in one thing; being an average weight female (which is "fat" in Hollywood) with some curves is another. She's probably more in the first camp right now even though she isn't THAT overweight, which is why she's not exactly the posterwoman for what I was getting at.

I should probably direct my praise to Scarlett or someone like that who is still curvy and still big-time in the media spotlight (this thread asking if we've seen Jessica lately is enough evidence of her fall from the limelight) rather than someone who is on the outside looking in after going from super-skinny to overweight in a matter of 6 months or so.

Re: Anybody seen Jessica Simpson lately?

You know what's funny? The average weight of females is on the rise, and yet, if you watch television/film you don't see this shift in weight gain.

I wonder what's going to happen as less and less people watch television. I'm pretty sure that viewership is actually going down, and I'll actually give this new young generation credit for being more socially responsible in terms of accepting themselves.

Sure, we're raising a bunch of egotistical punks that think everything is supposed to be handed to them, but at least they have a tighter connection to each other than I think my own generation ever had.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I'm guessing it's moreso a shift in what they're watching, not if. Unfortunately, that seem to be watching reality shows in increasing numbers. IDK, maybe that will actually help.
