Re: District 9
Saw this last night and was very impressed.
A slight peeve of mine reared it's head though...
SpoilerWhy in the hell did they give away that awesome bio armor catching the rocket moment in the commercials for the film? I know it was a cool visual but where it was placed in the film...would have been so much more impactful if I hadn't have seen it dozens of times already.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: District 9
Absolutely. It was so refreshing to finally see an original movie, especially with a lot of complaints from posters on OS how most movies nowadays are remakes, super hero or books/video games turned to movies.
I loved the choice of camera work and besides the obvious great job the lead actor and special effects was the work they did on the aliens. The attitude, the look, the interaction with humans. Probably my favorite alien in a movie ever.Comment

Re: District 9
I still want to know how this is like Transformers.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: District 9
I was going to watch IB but it was sold out so I decided to watch District 9.
I can't care what other people say, District 9 is just another Dumb Summer Popcorn Film. I would have added Big before Dumb but the movie's budget was only 30 million.
Kudo's to Sharlto Copley (looks like Spike Jonze) for an amazing performance. I thought his performance was so good that it deserves Oscar consideration. I'm trying to avoid giving away spoilers so I have to be careful with what I say. Numerous times Wikus's life was in danger and the solutions were one cliche after another.
Don't get me wrong, District 9 isn't a bad movie, it's also not a great movie either. I'll watch the sequel when it comes out.
