Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
I'd say for a straight-to-DVD sequel it was not awful, but it didn't have to be made and it could have been better thought out. There was nothing necessarily bad to speak of about the story, but the charm in the original is the mystery of it and the six girls. Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
The Last Airbender
I'll start with saying this, If you have never seen the show, you would be pretty confused at a lot of what was going on, if you have seen the show; then you would be pretty angry about how much content was missed or messed up.
With all that being said, i enjoyed it. Well maybe its because before i saw it, these people i know at work came in to work this afternoon and told me how bad it was. And hearing some of the reviews, i put two and two together. So when I was watching it, i had this thought that it was going to be really bad, but it wasn't.
The biggest thing was the acting, it was really hit or miss. The character playing Ang had potential, but did a pretty bad job until half way through the movie where you could see him becoming more comfortable.
But WTF M.Night? I hear he actually helped write some of the actual episodes from the show, how did he mess up so much on the script? There was so much that he could of hinted at in the movie, but a lot of things were glossed over or never mentioned.
I walked out of the theater thinking, i would love to see a sequel where he's not the one writing the script and can just sit back and direct. The movie showed so much potentail in many areas, but failed to live up to it. Hopefully did will do fine to the point where the sequels can be green lit.
Night seems like a man who takes criticism and can use it to better his efforts, so i think if he gets the chance for a sequel, it'll be better than the first.
And one more thing, PLEASE PRONOUNCE HIS NAME CORRECTLY. WTF ????
I give it a 7.2Last edited by marshallfever; 07-02-2010, 10:19 AM.Comment

Last Airbender? Is that what you're talking about?

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
I'm watching Freddy's New Nightmare right now. It's pretty boring. I'm posting about it on a forum while it's on and there's action happening.
Ending Spoiler:
SpoilerI finally finished it, and it was so damn stupid that I was actually hoping that it was a dream the whole time or that it was a movie shoot the whole time. When the last battle happened, it was so damn idiotic that the fact it was actually "real" pissed me off and I'd wished they'd just got the cheesey route because it would have been 100x better and explained why it was so stupid.
One thing that's annoying me with all these movies is that I'm constantly having to hold the remote and turn the volume up and down because it's either too loud or too quiet. Why can't they be consistent? I'd like to watch a movie without adjusting the volume 15 times.Last edited by MC Fatigue; 07-02-2010, 11:47 AM.Comment

anyway, the only decent Nightmare on Elm ST to me is #2, it's dirtier and weirder than the others ... i think in #3 you see a hot chick naked, but it's so stupid otherwise.
If you're wanting more 80s horrors, April Fools day isn't bad (relatively)
I'm looking for movies to watch, but all I'm really badly looking forward to is Predators and it will be the only movie I'll actually go to see in theatres on the horizon that I can see.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

The Road-Great movie definitely reminded me of Fallout 3 which is an awesome thing. Had me on the edge of my seat during some scenes.
Terminator:Salvation-Eh it was ok. Christian Bale's yelling got old fast though. Not close to being good as 1,2, or 3 though but better then I expected.
Invictus-Not sure how I stand on this one. I was kinda bored with it.
From Paris with Love-I love John Travolta and I enjoyed the mindless action in this movie. I liked the Pulp Fiction references as well.
Boondock Saints 2-Not as good as the 1st one, but not as bad as a lot of people I know made it out to be. I enjoyed it a lot and the Mexican guy was hilarious.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

are you on a horror kick or something? lol, a couple of years ago I went on a zombie kick and watched every single zombie movie available including one that was beyond terrible, but recognized a girl from highschool.

On another note - I saw maybe the last hour of a movie called Watchmen. It made me want to watch the rest. I think it was HBO or Cinemax. I'll have to check out if it's OnDemand yet. It was really interesting and unique.Comment

I watched Moon last night, not quite what I thought it would be, Sam Rockwell does a good job, but I fell a sleep towards the end, the movie is a little too drawn out for my tastes, but it was kind of enjoyable. I was hoping for a more Castaway type movie.Comment

Went to the $2 theater and saw Robin Hood. It was alright...ran too long for my taste. Russel Crowe was a solid RH.Comment

I really liked that movie. Sam Rockwell is one of my favorite actors around. I'd check out Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, good flick.Florida State Seminoles-Minnesota Twins-Green Bay Packers-Minnesota Golden Gophers-Orlando Magic-Minnesota Wild

The Last Airbender. Save your cash and wait for DVD. its worth a buck or two, not 50 at the Box Office.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
There is a second one. It's not as bad as it's made out to be (I think most people are simply disgruntled that a second one was made because it is not continuous with the original ending of the first one so they pass on it without hesitance), but there were production choices that I'd say most people would disagree with. The creatures look different, the cave has a lot of natural light and takes away from the creepiness factor, and The Descent 2 is more of sequence after sequence on how to avoid X creature as opposed to a natural progression of finding their way out of the cave.
I'd say for a straight-to-DVD sequel it was not awful, but it didn't have to be made and it could have been better thought out. There was nothing necessarily bad to speak of about the story, but the charm in the original is the mystery of it and the six girls. This was a bit different.Comment
