Ride With The Devil - This is a 1999 Ang Lee film that I had never heard of before, but since it was released on blu ray by Criterion I figured I would go with it because Criterion has yet to let me down. It follows a group of Bushwhackers during the Civil War and features kind of an odd cast that had me hesitant at the beginning: Tobey Maguire, Skeet Ulrich, Jewel, Jeffrey Wright, Simon Baker, etc. With Spiderman and the Ghostface Killer as the leads, I was kind of weary about watching this, but this was really a great movie and I enjoyed watching it. There's some nice action sequences throughout and Jeffrey Wright is superb in his role. The cinematography was beautiful with the use of the natural landscape.

Gamer-Ehh it was ok. Ridiculous plot about a company that allows people to control humans in a Call of Duty type game. A lot of blood and gore in this movie and other mindless action.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
My favorite part (doesn't really spoil anything but I'll throw it in tags anyway):
SpoilerWhen Clooney is trying to "teach" Ewan and talks about distractions - "Get up real close, get them focusing on something else and then....stab them in the neck with a knife, or pen, or something. Just the blood really flowing out." The way he delivered that line had me rolling.Comment

Saw Predators and it was alright, not the best movie but it did what a Predator movie should do. Topher Grace was great and Laurence Fishburne was hilarious.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Staten Island-Starring Ethan Hawke and Vincent D'onofrio. A dark comedy about the lives of a sewage cleaner, a mobster, and a deaf mute butcher who lives get intersected. I would highly recommend this film. Not a lot of action but great acting and great direction and a lot of humor. The deaf mute butcher was great.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Felt like a movie that couldn't decide whether it wanted to be a chick flick or a comedy, didn't really find a balance, and ended up being neither. It was just... nothing.

The Crazies- This is probably the best horror movie that I've seen this year. Sure it has been done before, has some wtf moments (nothing too bad) and is somewhat predictable. But, none of that took away thing away from the movie, IMO. I would definitely recommend it to those of you who want to watch a good horror movie.
Precious- Very good movie with great acting by Gabourey Sidibe and Mo'Nique. Paula Patton is very easy on the eyes and even as much as I hate Mariah Carey she gave a very solid performance. Apparently this is a true story so, that makes it better as well.My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

Saw this. I gave it a C- It was supposed to be a romantic comedy/underdog story told from the guy's POV. My problem was they made the dude too much of a loser, especially with the way he talked. Alice Eve was the ONLY reason I kept watching--she's insanely cute.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country: this was a great way to end the series of films with the old guys but it's a bit of a weird mish mash in that a good part of the movie was "Spock's excellent murder mystery!". Still it had some charm to it and while the humor wasn't sprinkled around like in the other movies there were a couple moments of levity. I really liked the parallel of the storyline of a peace conference between the Federation and the Klingons compared to the recent (at the time) collapse of the Soviet Union and the re-entry of Russia into modern western society. The movie ended in a very cliche way but it tied into Gene Roddenberry's pitch of TOS to NBC as "Wagon Train to the stars" which I thought was excellent self reference as well as poking a little fun at the whole classic Western ending cliche.
4 out of 5 stars
Next up was Fantastic Mr. Fox: Well I got to say at first I was completely put off by the animation style. I mean I like stop motion but they used cameras that were even greater then HD and 12 FPS instead of 24 in order to really show off the stop motion process however I settled into it and thought this was a pretty damn good flick. The characters were fully fleshed out and the dialogue was well, fantastic
I do have to say that above everything else I loved the byplay between Ash and Kristofferson. I thought those two characters meshed well together as they were both outsiders to some extent. Ash wanted the approval and love of his father while Kristofferson was just plain....different. It was an interesting dynamic that made you care about them. As for the lead roles I got to say that George Clooney, who can be a bit of a strain to me did a really great job voicing Mr. Fox and the byplay between him and Wally Wolodarsky as Kylie was excellent. As far as natural inflection and acting in an animated film I have to say this was one of the best.
Overall I give the movie 3 1/2 stars. The movie is pretty crafty and the story zips along pretty well with lots of inside jokes but could've used a little more actual LOL moments IMO.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

6.5/6.5? That is a weird scale.

I watched Sex Drive last night. I went in with LOW expectations so that had to help but it was actually funny in parts. I don't know who decided on the title but anytime you see a title like that you really expect it it be horrible. It's nothing great but a pretty funny romp with lots of dick jokes and nudity.Comment
