Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Brooklyn's Finest-Pretty entertaining I love movies like this and it didn't dissapoint. Don Cheadle is one of my favorite actors and thought he was great in it. Ethan Hawke eh I just always find him annoying.
The Informant-Great movie! Definitely entertaining and I didn't know it was based on a true story.
The Descent 2-I liked it til the end. I was literally screaming at my tv telling her to get out of the cave.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Jeff Goldblum one. I actually wasn't aware it was a remake until you said this.Comment

Return of the Living Dead - Part II.
Loved it. The type of movie I've been looking for in all the horror movies I've been watching. It's not really scary, it's just funny. Kind of reminds me of the Bruce Campbell movies in that it doesn't take itself very seriously. Brains! Brains! It's got some pretty memorable scenes in it. I'd say anyone who hasn't seen this who likes cheesy horror flicks should see it.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Just finished Quarantine. Yes, I watch a lot of movies. I'm home with the 3 month old and they tend to nap a lot and I've not much else to do.
Anyway - meh movie overall. The acting was pretty good, but the story was entirely generic: people stuck in some place they can't escape while something horrible is happening around them.
It was rated 2/5 on Netflix by the users, but I'd heard about it, so I thought I'd give it a watch. I'd say the 2 stars is a good representation of what to expect - which isn't much.
The single camera gimmick gets annoying. Only movie I've seen where I bought it was The Blair Witch Project. I get the point and idea of the single camera point of view, but it makes for a choppy and often frustrating movie - especially when they're running around and it makes it hard to see anything. On top of that - the story just becomes non-existent for the most part. I mean, with the Blair Witch they did enough prior to the actual woods scenes that you knew what was going on, and why they were there. There was none of that with this movie.
Also - the lead female actor was beyond obnoxious. I'm not one for the whole "scream at every sound and movement" concept, and this lady lived by it. I was hoping someone would shoot her in the head and shut her up. The movie could have gone on without her since none of the characters mattered one single bit.
Ending Spoiler
SpoilerThe ending is apparent from pretty much the get go
Overall I'd say: don't waste your time.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
I watched I am Sam, good movie, actually funnier than I thought it would be, but I can't see any way someone with his mental capacity would be allowed to raise a child, pretty far fetched. Sean Penn's character reminded me of a combination of Jeff Spicoli and rain man. I also watched some of Radio but his teeth prevented me from watching the whole thing, it really bothered me. Both actors did a good job playing their roles but I couldn't help thinking about the Robert Downey quote from Tropic Thunder the whole time, Cuba really went all in. All in all a pretty slow night for movie watching.Comment

I finished Fright Night just a little bit ago. Decent 80's vampire movie. Pretty cheesy and fun enough. It's what you'd expect from a cheesy 80's movie, and it had some hilarious special effects. Also the chick from Married With Children was in it - Darcy or something.
3/5, I'd say.Comment

Public Enemies-Pretty decent movie, not the best gangster movie I've ever seen but Depp was great as usual. I thought it was a little too long for my taste and was expecting the ending to be more of a gunfight.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Saw the messenger as another poster mentioned its got very strong content and very strong performances especially the young guy who will no doubt become a star in the same vain as giordan....not googling it...the guy medic from saving private ryan and lead in boiler room and so on.
Anyway, great movie, very human and grounded in reality. Some of the scenes are just stunning. You'll have a few laughs, get watery eyes and cringe in awkward embarrassment. It's a great script with great performances. The main characters are also multi-dimensional which really helps in a movie like this where no bullets are fired and the whole thing takes place on home soil
Also saw, edge of darkness starring the insane Mel Gibson. Good flick...3/5
there's things to hate such as Mel's boston accent. I hate when actors do this...can't it be more subtle or just neutral? It just doesn't suit everyone so sometimes it's painful to see actors like Mel speaking as if they grew up in the white gangs of Southie lol
Anyway, it's good enough to rent/watch whatever. The plot is interesting, as are many of the characters, so it's just compelling where you want to keep going. And it has that cover-up factor that just makes people want the wrong's to come out because the thought of people/organizations/governments being able to get away with things makes most people's blood boil.
I'm going to watch either wolfman or legion tonight, and tomorrow it's theatre time for Predators!Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Zombieland. Great movie. Some action, some comedy, some drama, etc. 4/5 for sure. The opening credits were some of the best I've seen, and the work in of the "rules" were great throughout.
Only thing that bothered me a little was that it seemed the main role was written for Michael Cerra, but they couldn't get him or something. Everything about the character and the way the guy acted it screamed Cerra.
Slight Spoiler:
SpoilerThe Bill Murray sequence was great.Comment

I watched Crazy Heart yesterday and Jeff Bridges deserved that Oscar he won. Without him the movie would of been tedious. Very good watch and I loved the songs.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment
