I don't get what people meant when they said the robots were racist. They weren't racist at all, they were just ghetto.

BTW I caught the best five minutes of that movie today myself (forest fight scene). I don't really like the rest of it. You owe it to yourself to catch the first Transformers though, it's much better IMO.

I thought those two robots were in bad taste personally.

I didn't like them at all, definitely of the low points of the movie. But in no way would I call them racist.

I cared more about them adding nothing beneficial whatsoever to the film. The incredibly lame stereotyping they brought was just icing on the cake.

The same can be said for the parents. They provided nothing and would have been better off being cut from the film entirely.

Certainly, but to call the robots racist would be incorrect.

There were a lot of unnecessary things in Revenge of the Fallen, it made it very hard to like. I'm really hoping that Bay wises up his act at least a little bit and makes TF3 more like TF1.

Assuming a sequel is coming if/when this thread gets too big? Just guessing....

                    Quarantine

It's been a couple of months since I've seen Cloverfield or Paranormal Activity, so it was nice to jump into the handheld camera action again for a quick 89 minute spin. Of the three mentioned, I feel Quarantine did the best of getting you in the face of what is attacking the characters, camera man included.

The issue with these kinds of movies always tends to be one thing: How is it that you can get the camera man to realistically be recording at the time of an incident or follow someone to the place of incident without it feeling forced or uninviting? And again, I felt the realism here the most. In Cloverfield, I feel they were too conveniently at the right place at the right time and got to explore all facets of the monster terror (up in a building, in a helicopter, right underneath heavy fire, in the subway tunnels, etc.). In Paranormal Activity, the shots during the day time didn't seem to quite flow properly; you need to realize that someone would have to press the record button to start and stop recording, and there were times where it just didn't quite flow properly.

But in Quarantine, the time flow appeared consistent and there were many very, very long continuous shots that left me impressed. The only issue is that behind the camera is a camera man, and there were times where I just felt that the character simply wasn't there. During horrific scenes, he will be there, filming, with no verbal or instinctive reactions. He only really talked to his colleague as well, so if there was an issue when translating to the handheld style for this kind of movie, that would be it. Though as I said, the continuous shots were pretty glamorous. The intensity (without any breaks) at some points was pretty cool and unexpected.

I know there will be people that won't like the acting because "the main girl is too annoying" or whatever it is that people want to say, but I took it as a realistic approach to the situation that they are in. You can't mark this movie down for playing realism to a tee. And I just read around, and it appears this movie receives a lot of flack because it is inspired and shot keeping the Spanish movie [Rec] in mind, but people take the "shot for shot" comparisons and finds that an American, Hollywood remake is too unoriginal for its own good and puts out an inferior product when looking at it next to its predecessor. And honestly, I would probably care if I had seen [Rec] first myself... but I haven't, so take that 6.1 on IMDb however you'd like, but it should look a little bit more like the 7.7 that both [Rec] and Cloverfield have.

Pretty freaky good movie if you ask me.

Definitely agree with you. I have been forced to watch a ton of terrible horror movies thanks to my fiance, so I get sick of the genre, but I have to say Quarantine was pretty good. A lot of people complain about it starting slow at the fire station but it provided character development and allowed for the shocking change of pace at the apartment. I actually like these shaky camera movies. I also enjoyed the original version [rec], Cloverfield, and Blair Witch Project. Paranormal Activity was good up until the theatrical ending.

I've only seen parts but I disagree. His alter-ego was intended to be cheesy. Definitely not a Tyler Durden type.

I thought Knight and Day was pretty dumb. Characters were thin, some scenes were predictable and cliche, and camera close-ups on Cruse and Diaz were annoying/distracting.

I just finished watching Disney's Beauty and the Beast and i'm still floored at how it holds up. I'm a 22 year old man and it still hit me right in here in the chest. The scene where he changed into a human again, just pure magic.

The songs are still memorable and the animations hold up very well for something over 15 years old. Its sort of a shame good old fashion animation had died out for computer generated movies. The Princess and the Frog did an excellent job and hopefully ensures that the style won't completely go out.

                                9.8

This is my favorite Disney movie out of the classic "Princess stuff." Its right above Aladdin and Lion King for me.
