I had mixed feelings about Adventureland too. On the one hand I sort of enjoyed the story, but on the other I can't remember a single damn thing that happened in it. It's boring and mundane but in a very watchable way if that makes any sense at all.

Yah, just a watchable movie. Man I thought Kristen Stewart was so hot in that movie. I dont even really find her all too attractive, but after that movie, I was sold.

Kristen Stewart to me is just like Adventureland... I'm not really sure if I like her or not. She has some strange attractiveness to her where at the same time she just seems like a dude, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Fun little trivia, this past year my dorm neighbor's brother, Michael Angarano (actor), used to date Kristen Stewart. Never met either of them, but it was just something to tell my little sister, who reads and watches Twilight so she was excited to hear that.

I'm still a bit confused about which emotions the director wanted to captivate me with during the movie. Was I supposed to look for cheesy one-liners per scene to fulfill myself? Was I supposed to feel invigorated by the main character's actions during the climax of the movie? Was I supposed to be surprised with the unveiling past relationships between characters? Was I supposed to feel a connection between Eisenberg and Stewart 15 minutes into the movie when they spontaneously woo each other? Was this movie supposed to get that "kids target" for an R-rated movie, despite the pretty adult-themed sex, drugs, alcohol, and 80s innuendos?

I think that Adventureland was a little more serious in tone than I expected, and that some side characters were too kooky to fit in with that tone. I also felt like every scene in the theme park itself felt "fake" in a way, like you wouldn't expect things like that to happen in a real life scenario, be it character dialogue or just the overall unfolding of a scene. I bet writing and reading this script may have left people scratching their heads asking, "Why?"

Half of me liked this movie, the other half of me didn't. I don't think it warranted the 3 out of 4 stars that it was rated on Comcast, and I generally tend to agree with their consensus. It definitely wasn't a big laugh out loud movie, I'll say that much.
I liked it, but it didn't really fit into a specific genre. Kind of like the directors weren't sure what direction to go in so they did some of everything. As a "coming of age" movie, it did it's job.

Recently watched Star Wars to Return Of The Jedi on DVD. It looked and sounded fantastic on my upconvert Blu Ray player. I still hate all those silly additions Lucas put in those remastered versions. From Greedo shooting at Han first all the way to adding Hayden Christensen at the end of Jedi, I felt it was better left alone.

I think what kind of confused me the most was Jesse Eisenberg. I have watched Zombieland countless times before seeing this, even though Adventureland came out first, but his character in Zombieland is that of a loser with no friends and never had a girlfriend. I imagined he would practically be the same person in Adventureland, and his personality was exactly the same. So I didn't exactly understand how it is he could have these girls surrounding him and how we was suddenly this stoner kind of character.

It seemed really out of line for his character, primarily because I know of his Zombieland character and it just didn't feel right. Sometimes during the movie though, you saw his inner nerd with the friends he hung out with, his stuttering lack of confidence, and him being a virgin et al. I couldn't ever really put both characters together into one.

I watched Blazing Saddles (an old Mel Brooks movie) on Sunday. I love this movie, as most of Mel's movies.

Why are you trying to put two characters, from two completely different movies, together?

His character in Zombieland has nothing to do with this character. That's like trying to combine Bruce Wayne and John Connor together because Christian Bale played them both.

On the contrary, I am able to separate characters played by the same actor; what I was saying though was there were many instances from Adventureland that were so similar to the character in Zombieland, that when he wasn't portrayed like that in other scenes, the balance just didn't feel right. This is especially indicative when he somehow is able to reel in some good looking women while spitting no game whatsoever.

Though you may be correct. I tend to think of Jesse Eisenberg as another Michael Cera, and I tend to see Michael Cera play a character with similar personalities and mannerisms in each movie that he's in, so I may somehow have that little "thing" that I see in him always, like that thread I created about certain actors.

That sounds like an issue that you have and not something that's wrong with the movie.

I'm not quite sure if I'm getting this through. What I am saying is that his character shows two polar extremes, whether you've seen Zombieland or not. Zombieland is simply an example of what he "should be" based on the vibe you catch from him early on.

It's not a major complaint at all, which is why I never mentioned it in my first post about the movie.

I just watched some Transformers movie on HBO or Cinemax. It was OK, I guess. I think it was the second one. The story was pretty stupid, but the action was pretty cool. I believe Michael Bay directed it (and I'm a fan of the guy; he's directed a few of the greatest action movies ever), so lack of a plausible story is to be expected.

Not sure what was up with those two gangster robots - but they provided some comic relief here and there. I remember hearing people rant on about them being racist or something. I didn't think they were racist, but they were kind of stupid and didn't seem to make sense to me.

Watched Angels and Demons last night.

Considering i preferred the book more than the Davinci Code i was pretty disappointed with the movie. I didn't really hold my attention and i actually feel asleep towards the end. Hanks was in cruise control and seriously didn't deserve the massive payday he got for it but i guess they couldn't have made it without him. 2.5 out of 5 from me.
