The Virginity Hit - Terrible. Expected a lot better from producers Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. Described as a mix between Superbad and American Pie, it was nowhere close as funny or entertaning, not even to the most recent lackluster American Pie movies.

Knight And Day. Not terrible if you don't try to take it seriously.

Super 8 - Awesome movie. It might be my favorite of the Summer thus far (sorry X-Men). I love how Abram builds to reveals of monsters/characters and this one didn't disappoint like Cloverfield did. The kids were all amazing - great chemistry between everyone, especially Alice and Joe. It was nice to see Coach Taylor bust out some *** whoopin skills. Overall great movie and I look forward to watching it again.

Get Smart- It was a good rental. A few laughs and some action held my attention. Plus Anne Hathaway was eye candy throughout.

The Love Guru- Meh, I guess there was a reason I've waited so long to see this. Easily forgettable comedy.

Hall Pass - really enjoyable comedy. For some reason I thought Paul Rudd was in this so I was disappointed that he wasn't but the movie was still pretty damn funny. Brings up some funny discussions for a married couple as well.

Some nice Aussie eye candy too with Nicky Whelan:

I too just watched Hall Pass. Better than I expect it to be. Started to drag along the end but the funny moments made up for it. Highlights for me would be fake chow and Nicky Whelan.

                  The Lusty Men (1952)

                  (Yes I know horrible title)

                  Plot Summary:

When he sustains a rodeo injury, star rider Jeff McCloud returns to his hometown after many years of absence. He signs on as a hired hand with a local ranch, where he befriends fellow ranch hand Wes and his wife Louise. Wes has big dreams of owning his own little farm, and rodeo winnings could help finance it. Wes convinces Jeff to coach him in the rodeo ways, but Louise has her doubts. She doesn't want her man to end up a broken down rodeo bum like Jeff McCloud. Despite Louise's concern, the threesome hit the road in their Woody, chucking a secure present for an unknown future. Will they find success or sorrow? This picture features plenty of rodeo action and thrills.

This movie stars Robert Mitchum, (Jeff) Arthur Kennedy (Wes) and Susan Hayward. (Louise) Interestingly Hayward got top billing though this movie is all Mitchum. It's not a bad movie either though a little slow in the middle. I really liked the first quarter of the film where we meet Jeff and you get the flavor of the rodeo life and how he more or less lost everything in his life because of the hard life of being a rodeo star.

Wes and Louise are ably portrayed by Kennedy and Hayward and you really get the sense of the hard scrabble, hard working life they're living before Jeff comes into their lives. This is one of those films where you see a character change for the worst as he becomes consumed by a lifestyle that'll send him to an early grave. The film doesn't shove the message too far down the audience's throats as we see what Wes' future will become if he continues down this road with the presence of a couple characters who are the worse for wear like Buster Davis who used to be the top rodeo star but is now a half cripple making ends meet supporting his daughter by working behind the scenes at the various rodeo stops.

Another part of this movie that makes it quite good is that Jeff's motives aren't exactly pure in trying to help Wes as Jeff is smitten by Louise and subtly tries to win her heart by gently prodding Wes down the road to oblivion. The movie's conclusion is somewhat predictable but surprising as well as despite some of the elements involved all 3 main characters' story arcs conclude with them showing their better virtues.

Mitchum is quite good in this as he provides a strong presence and actually looks and feels like a guy who's been through it all but there's a spark of humanity in him. Arthur Kennedy's change from a hard working salt of the earth type to a guy trying to take the shortcut to happiness in life is fantastically realized though the heelish behavior is a bit of an old movie trope. Hayward who was a very talented actress back in the day doesn't have nearly as much to do but she's easy on the eyes and puts her character's emotions and feelings to life vividly.

Overall I give this about 2 3/4ths stars out of 5.

Due Date. IMO it was better than the Hangover. I love RDJ. No Rainbow. there was some forced humor in it (like House of Pain) but it was still good, I'd watch it again.

Yes Nicky Whelan is beautiful. I enjoyed Hall Pass as well.

X-Men: First Class - I liked it which is say something because I've never been interested in any X-Men movie. I especially liked the Cold War plot with the JFK speeches and the American-Russian Naval standoff.

Hangover Part 2- As I mentioned in the Hangover thread I thought it was decent but not as funny or great as the first one. I didn't mind that it was nearly identical to the first one.

I saw a picture of her "boyfriend" and man, I just don't get how these ultra-skinny, un-masculine dudes wind up with fine women.

The Hangover 2: Meh. Really all I have to say.

                                (500) Days of Summer: Amazing. Maybe one of my favorite movies ever. It was so good that I had the urge to watch it again after it was over and I still do today. Also, the ending was surprisingly satisfying. I won't spoil anything, I'll just say I wasn't sure how good it would be with how certain things turned out, but it was really good IMO.

Side note: I'm in love with Zooey Deschanel.
