Deliverance - I had watched this once before on AMC and just thought it was weird, but I watched it again on bluray last night and found it to be very tense and paranoid, along with being weird. It was interesting to see how the characters handled what happened and how it changed them.

I dont know. Its weird but I just lost interest in it. I didn't find the murders all that appealing I guess. Morgan and Brad were great in it and the ending was stellar but I was kinda letdown a little bit. It was a decent movie but was expecting a great movie and IMO didnt get that. I think I was expecting a more gruesome movie ala Saw.

The first Saw was a great all around movie. From there on out it seemed like a gore-fest to me. It's like they cared more bout shock value than a good solid plot. So, that's what makes Seven much better than Saw, IMO.

I just didn't feel that intrigued in the plot. The ending made it good for me but up til that I didn't think it was a good movie overall.

Hard Candy-Very disturbing movie. I like Ellen Page a lot but she creeped me out in this movie. Some people will find its boring but I did not. She psychologically tortures him and she physically did something no man should have to go through. You feel sorry for the guy but when you learn what he did and how he got in the position in the 1st place its hard too. 3/5

                  D.O.A. (1950)

This movie is way too hard to encapsulate but here's a plot summary from IMDB:

Small-town accountant Frank Bigelow goes to San Francisco for a week's fun prior to settling down with fiancée Paula. After a night on the town, he wakes up with more than just a hangover; doctors tell him he's been given a "luminous toxin" with no antidote and has, at most, a week to live! Not knowing who did it or why, Bigelow embarks on a frantic odyssey to find his own murderer.
This is the most famous film of Edmond O'Brien's career or at least the one he's most associated with. He plays Bigelow and man...At first it's hard to like the guy. He brushes off his fiancee played pretty well by Pamela Britton and when he goes off to San Fran he's leering at all the women and wanting to screw em! (Hell the film makes it abundantly clear with the wolf whistle effects every time he looks at one in the hotel) So Bigelow isn't the most likable guy early on but you do get to feel for him and his plight as the movie goes on.

This was a pretty good mystery/thriller but one thing that knocks it down a couple stars is the over the top/schlocky nature of it. I already mentioned the wolf whistle effects but the acting is very over the top and at times I nearly laughed which is not a good thing. Heck, they couldn't even do Bigelow's death right as he's leaning against a desk then dives to his left as he dies from the poisoning. THAT, I laughed at.

Dimitri Tiomkin did the score for the movie and he was usually a pretty good hand at these sort of things but his score for this movie just overwhelms every scene. I think the movie could've been better served with a more conventional crime/drama score instead of the loud and very orchestral score that Tiomkin excelled in.

Last but not least in the films detractions is the plot. It was way too complicated and there was a twist or two too many for the plot IMO. That being said while the plot is difficult to explain it was pretty much easy to follow within the film. I actually had an idea of who did it near the end before it was revealed.

On the positive side this movie has a couple very iconic shots in it; the opening where the credits are rolling where you Bigelow walking into the police station to report what happened to him. The camera is behind him so you get a close up 3rd person visual of that. The second iconic scene is of Bigelow freaking out after learning that he's been poisoned but it's so far gone that he's literally going to die soon. He goes out running like a madman throughout San Fran. The shot is a "stolen shot" too which means no one on the screen knew that it was part of a movie shoot so there was that added dimension of reality to it.

There's also a couple great small performances as well one by Luther Adler who plays Majak, a guy who is intricately involved in Bigelow's situation. Adler gave a very cool and detached performance that matched his character's menacing threat then there's Neville Brand as his nephew Chester. The guy was certifiably insane and getting off on beating the crap out of Bigelow. Really over the top evil from him but it works within the framework of the film.

                  Overall I give D.O.A. 2 out of 4 stars.

I found it weird watching that almost immediately after i'd watched her in Juno. Two completely different movies, two strong performances by Ellen Page.

Awesome movie, loved how they made you think of super natural instances when everything had a clear cut answer. The story was alright and the characters were amazing.

Loved how they had tied in Moriarty somehow. Can't wait for a sequel

I just saw Halloween II (Zombie's version) and he butchered it. Easily the dumbest movie I'll see this year. I'm a Micheal Myers fanatic, I have the Halloween box set and this is the 2nd time Zombie has stunk it up.

Big Fan - Wow. What a terrific movie. Anyone passionate sports fan could easily relate to certain things within this movie. Patton Oswalt was absolutely golden in this. Those expecting a laugh out loud comedy should beware though, because this was one dark movie. I laughed, I felt uncomfortable, and I laughed some more. Without a doubt, this was one of the best movies I have seen in a while. Do youself a favor and check this out.

And the fact that Patton Oswalt's character was a N.Y. Giants fan made this even better. The NFC East bickering was spot on.
