Re: What movies have you seen recently?
We saw Creed III yesterday.
I enjoyed it a lot. The absence of Rocky though was really noticeable. I think it stinks he was not part of the closing chapter of this trilogy. He was a huge part of Don’s development and not even any closure or a whisper of his monumental character arc in all this.
Just a sour taste for me being an original pioneer Rocky fan.
However the movie was great. Well acted, good pacing and a great story.
It does rank my third favorite in the trilogy and all three films are worthy additions.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I was an original enthusiast of Fringe but my interest only carried me to the first episode of season three. Eventually I watched the entire final season (5) to see how the mysterious ended and enjoyed it. It was so long ago I can't recall Lance Reddick in it.Comment

I started watching The Hunt (from 2020) but I couldn't get past the opening 20 minutes because...
Spoiler...they too quickly killed off characters I was interested seeing a movie built around
strange role choice for Hilary Swank, I like her a lot and I don't recall seeing her play a villain beforeOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
The Nice Guys - Nice little noir story. Was pleasantly surprised by the level of violence and the dialogue. Fan of Shane Black's movies and scripts. Angourie Rice was great. Always chasing the feel "The Long Goodbye" with Elliot Gould gave me.
Crocodile Dundee - Have seen the original many times, still a nice 80's time waster. The New York bits are more interesting than the Australian stuff to me. Maybe it's nostalgia but a lot of 80's low rent comedies like Crocodile, Mannequin, Weekend at Bernie's and etc. are fun.
I grew up watching stuff like Summer Rental.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Those 1980s comedies are sneaky funny because you always remember them being slightly dumber than they actually were lol. Or at least I did. Then you watch them and the writing is really good, and the "you couldn't do that now" factor makes them seem edgier somehow. I feel that way every time I watch Revenge of the Nerds. Or even Major League. I'm surprised by how much better they are then I remembered. Maybe my memories are distorted by the horrible TV edits that I'd watch as a kid.Comment

Man I love the first Major League. I owe it to my dad showing me a bunch of those 80's movies, some earlier than I should have.

Confess, Fletch
I enjoyed it but, as much as I love Jon Hamm, this much was a huge miscast for me.
I respect the fact actors don't want to be typecast, but even I have limits of what I can accept.
Hamm playing Fletch is as bad as choosing Chevy Chase to play Don DraperOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

John Wick 4, they did that ****. 3 hours of amazingness. Donnie Yen in a tux, baddest mother****er alive. Rina Sawayama, oh me oh my. Already one of my favorite action movies ever. RIP my guy Lance Reddick. Between this and Bond, 2 syllable full names and a tux might just be the key to my heart.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Exit Wounds (2001)
Man I remember this movie being better than this lol. Granted it's probably been 15+ years since I last watched. A very average to OK action flick. DMX's acting is what it is. Best part of the film is Anthony Anderson, and it seems likely that he improved a lot, because the rest of the dialogue in the film never comes close to being as clever. A good cast largely wasted. Some decent action in the final 1/3, with a few pretty crazy looking deaths. Another bright spot is this film is full of 2001 hip-hop. That has to count for something.
Seagal made one more film (Half Past Dead) before Hollywood had the financial excuse to be done with him lol.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I watch "Detective Pikachu". In addition to these traditional Pokemon moves, Detective Pikachu also shows off some unique abilities in the movie. For example, he can release a puff of gas that allows him to communicate with other Pokemon, and he can also generate a powerful force field to protect himself and his friends.Comment
