Just seen Magic Mike and all I can day is that they strait ripped off The Players Club, but this is the male version of it. I thought this movie was just Ok, it was pretty funny to me, I give it a 6/10, I would have gave it a 7 or 8/10 is the ending was better; either way it's not as good as The Players Club, and in not saying that because I'm a male.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Watched "House At The End Of The Street" last night. It wasn't too bad. Max Thieriot's character was pretty interesting. I really like him on Bates Motel as Norman's brother. Elisabeth Shue still looks pretty hot even though she's almost 50.Comment

Here's hoping the return of the popcorn action flick maintains itself after The Last Stand and Bullet to the Head etc etc have come out. I'm not saying they're good movies but it's nice to have a little bang bang kinda flick that doesn't demand much from the audience.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
That was indeed a very solid movie. I haven't seen it in some time but I remember it being very good. It's interesting in a way how the late '80s/early '90s get a lot of love in the action genre but I think the entire decade of the '90s was top notch that way. Even some of the lesser action flicks of the period were very entertaining.

Watched Now You See Me the other night. Really fun movie with plenty of cool visuals. The plot, however, is mind (expletive) after mind (expletive) with hardly any direction and a twist that's not easy to understand but maybe after another viewing when it comes out on Blu Ray it will make more sense. I'm really becoming a big fan of Mark Ruffalo and Jesse Eisenberg and even Lil Franco does an excellent job here. Miles ahead of "21 Jump Street" and "Warm Bodies" in this one. Plus, Isla Fisher always steals my attention anyway. In conclusion, I liked it, but I didn't. Whatever man.
After typing that, it finally hit me. The whole movie the magicians were staying "one step ahead." Maybe that was the point, they stayed true to the premise of staying ahead that the audience doesn't even get it. Bold.Last edited by Cutter15; 06-04-2013, 05:52 PM.Alabama Crimson Tide

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Dredd - *Ahem* AVON BARKSDALE. This is just pure badass. Has the feel of a late 80s, early 90s action flick complete with sub-blockbuster special effects. Considering the casting, I would say this is probably the most "progressive" action movie I've seen in a while. Lena Hadley as Ma-Ma was slightly disappointing once you realize the character is dialed back and psychotically reserved, but Urban and the rookie's chemistry is great and they work very well together. A lot of great scenes and I love how there's a tongue-in-cheek vibe running just beneath the surface as the movie walks that fine line between taking itself too serious and not taking itself serious enough.
With that said I want Karl Urban to be Batman.

The Hangover: Part III
It was okay, and it didn't have anything to do with it being underwhelming. I liked The Hangover: Part II, but missed something that was so good about The Hangover. People said they liked The Hangover because of the characters. Before I said that I really liked the Vegas aspect about it, but I'll agree that the characters were a great reason to like the first film. The problem is that the characters went through changes from the first one to the second and third ones, specifically Alan and Chow...
... therein lies the problem.
Alan and Chow are the highlighted characters in the third film, and frankly I wasn't having much of that, especially with the changes the characters have had since the first one. At first I thought it was just me, but then I just popped in The Hangover again and confirmed my suspicions. Chow was much tamer (though still ridiculous), and served better as being completely outside of the friend zone. Alan has just become a dick, plain and simple. I know they state reasons why or whatever, but he's not even funny anymore. Anyway, I'm glad that Vegas returned as a 'character,' but I think even that character changed a little bit because it wasn't as prominent as it was in the first one either.
Some people might be fazed simply because they went a different route with this film. I think the route was fine. I just think that the character focus was out of whack, the character changes were out of whack, and some moments simply just weren't funny. I never knew so many jokes could fall flat, especially with these characters.
Still a fine movie, but hardly the comedy that the first film was. I'd even say the second film had more funny moments. I think that Todd Phillips and his cinematographer did some excellent work with the shots in the film, though... and I think he could write some good thrillers if he wanted to. There actually were good working story elements in play, and it happened to be used as a part of the Hangover franchise.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Jack Reacher - Started off kind of slow and boring to me, but things picked up a bit in the second half of the movie. It was alright, but I couldn't see myself watching it again.
Life of Pi - This was a pretty good movie. When I saw clips of it I thought it would be corny, but it held my interest the whole way through. I especially like the way that it ended. Don't wanna spoil anything, so I'll leave it at that.Comment

Seen both movies recently. Hated both. Life Of Pi was way overrated in my books.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Agreed on Life of Pi. From a technical aspect, it was a top tier movie--especially the 3D. As for the actual movie, can't say I'm jumping at the chance to watch it again.Comment
