'2012', while I love Cusack, just didn't move very well, and the characters were kinda hollow. I really cared about the characters in TDAT.
Good point gentlemen but I think we're forgetting Stargate (1994) while technically not his breakout directorial film (that would be Universal Soldier from '92) it's the first film to truly bear a lot of his trademarks. It's a pretty good sci-fi action flick with some good actors and an interesting storyline.

'Stargate' was his?? I did not realize that....I really like that film (but I haven't seen it in recent years).

Stargate (1994) was a very good sci-fi movie in my opinion.

          Oz the Great and Powerful

Decent enough. Looked really weird in some places. Like they ran out of money for proper CG. They tried to create tension in some places but it just fails. It's a prequel,we know where it's going. The little doll thingy was pretty great but the monkey felt like a bit of a nusiance.

End of Watch, Half-Baked and Snow on Tha Bluff--all three were pretty great.

                  Two-Gun Lady (1955)

                  Plot Summary:

Karen Marshall arrives in the town controlled by Jud Ivers posing as Kate Masters. Her traveling companion taught her to shoot and she puts on her sharpshooting act at the saloon. But her main objective in returning is to find and kill the man that murdered her mother when she was a girl. That man is Ivers' son and when her true identity becomes known she is ready to face him in a gunfight.
This was one of those cheap B westerns that were produced in the 1950s and it really shows, not really on the production side as that was quite passable but rather on the lack of pedigree in the acting. The star, Peggie Castle was a '50s B movie actress and the male star who played Dan Corbin was William Talman who's remembered today as the DA who always lost to Perry Mason in that show. Those two carry the film on their backs as the main weakness was in the villains who were played by production people for the film!

The story is actually not that bad but because the foils to the good guys are so poorly portrayed by amateurs it really sinks things. I can't give this more than one star but it somehow kept me entertained throughout and the gunfight at the end had a slightly unexpected conclusion. I think the whole setup to that final gunfight really illustrates the problem of the film as the villain is at the saloon alone with the proprietor as dramatic music plays and it's a very quiet scene at first as his presence is supposed to be chilling but it doesn't quite have that feeling especially when he goads the proprietor into attempting to shoot him. The scene would've been handled A LOT better with a professional actor as the heavy.

So I thought it was an amiable time waster but others would find this to be junk. Again, only * out of 4 stars.

Premium Rush- Well it might be the best ever movie about Bike Messengers. It also might be one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

                    Moonrise Kingdom- It was alright.

12 Angry Men (original). Saw it quite a long time ago. Have a hankerin' to watch the remake. So many good performances, but that ending.... what were they thinking?

Made it a point to sit down and watch Infernal Affairs today, the movie The Departed is based off of. I haven't seen it in a few years, still a great movie.

The Amazing Burt Wonderstone. Steve Buscemi, surprisingly, was the weakest link here. But, overall, other than a few chuckles, it didn't seem worth the effort. It seemed like in several scenes they had started out thinking "hey, this might be funny", but it never went anywhere.
