Just got back from seeing it, pretty good movie. In terms of just pure car orgasm, this one isn't as good as the first or even Tokyo Drift; but as an overall movie it was the best in the series bar none.

Definitely enjoyable. About the after credit, i could careless. I didn't like her character too much anyway.

Yeah, definitely watched the whole 5 hour long ****. Its worth it, by a long shot. Instant top 20 movie, IMO.

Just watched Black Swan. It was alright. Not really my type of movie. I can see why some people might like it but to me it was just boring and didn't hold my attention very well.

Do you really care where I sent this from?

          I Saw The Devil.

Pretty good Korean revenge/gore/torture flick with the one and only Oh Daesu of OLDBOY. Brief synopsis, crazy serial killer rapes and murders the fiance of a man who happens to work for Korea's intelligence agency. This guy becomes consumed with revenge and uses the skills and tools from his job to track down the killer on his own and exact his revenge, playing his own twisted catch-and-release game with the killer.

A few gore scenes had me half-blocking half-peeking, but overall it was a pretty good movie that kept me interested and wondering what would happen next. I was pretty satisfied with the ending as well, which I rarely am with movies like this.

Got a lot of recommendations for this one after I enjoyed Spirited Away. It was alright, though really effed up and weird (in the same vein but even moreso than Spirited Away). I probably wouldn't watch it again, and it definitely didn't appeal to me anywhere near as much as Spirited Away, but it wasn't terrible or anything. At first I thought it would be some 2 hour long environmental message about littering in the ocean, but thankfully it wasn't that. Unfortunately I could only get my hands on the English dubbed version but the American cast featured some big names and they were good enough to carry it.

Not bad. The whole lovie dovie thing and the high school parts were alright i guess, could of been done without. However the actual main story wasn't too bad. Felt like some of the segments were a bit rushed though. Would of loved a bit more character development.

Hoping there are sequels which can improve upon this one.

I watched the karate kid 2010. When not directly compared to the original it very good. I liked it but greatly prefer the original.

Fast Five- It kept me entertained throughout. The typical Fast & The Furious movie, it did what it set out to do well. Adding the Rock was a nice move, I'm glad he is picking up more action roles.

Take Me Home Tonight- I loved the soundtrack. The movie was ok, not great but not bad, a couple funny parts. Topher Grace was good.

I watched 'Let Me In' last night. Kinda different and very slow paced but has some legit tension building sequences and very different from your normal run of the mill vampire movie.

The young boy and girl (Hit Girl from Kick ***) who starred both gave excellent performances.

Probably not everyone's favourite (my wife didn't really like it) but i thought it was very well done and i'm glad i watched it.

Saw this as well and enjoyed it. I didn't mind the love story side plot. Both of the girls were nice eye candy. Action scenes were good and the plot moved at a nice pace. Hoping that a sequel is coming.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

The other day I watched one of the more odd "ol' time Americana" type films that i've seen. This movie stars Walter Huston, James Stewart and Beulah Bondi and is called Of Human Hearts (1938)

                        Plot Summary:
This is a story about family relationships, set in the time before and during the American Civil War. Ethan Wilkins is a poor and honest man who ministers to the human soul, while his son Jason yearns to be a doctor, helping people in the earthly realm. It is a rich story about striving for excellence, the tension of father-son rebellion, and the love of a mother that can never die.

The movie is a real slice of life from that period and shows what it was like growing up in a poor area like they did. Huston pays Ethan who is a parson hired by the people of the little town of Pine Hill, Ohio to minister to their needs. He brings along his young family and almost immediately Jason doesn't take to the new surroundings as he complains about the family being "paid" in clothing and kindness of strangers. I really found the first part of the movie when Jason was young and not played by Stewart to be the most captivating part of the movie in a lot of ways. You see Jason wanting to concentrate on more earthly things like reading magazines and socializing with the drunkard town doctor Dr. Shingle. (played very well by Charles Coburn who is one of my favorite character actors of the time) Indeed, strife between father and son builds up as Jason doesn't care to tend to the soul and is more concerned with the matters of the flesh.

In fact, Jason uses his mother's love quite selfishly throughout the movie asking her for things she can't afford and she loves her son so much that she will do anything for his happiness. She's the buffer between father and son and tries her best. Throughout the film Jason uses that to his advantage having his mother sell off precious momentos to achieve his goals of becoming a doctor. By the end of the movie we see that he's totally neglected his mother to the point that she thinks her son has died in the Civil War which leads to a scene that nearly kills the movie as Abraham Lincoln of all people scolds Jason on his conduct and demands he show his mother the love and respect she deserves.

In a lot of ways the script was headed to a dead end as it could've definitely ended with the mother dying of a broken heart knowing while Jason is off living in the here and now. So I guess the Lincoln scene was basically the only way to come up with a happy resolution.

The film is replete with great character moments and scenes that which might come off as a bit corny/syrupy today actually works quite well. One scene is when Ames (the local store owner and a bit of a shady guy in some ways) tries to swindle Ethan into buying an old broken down horse. Ethan brings Ames and his friend into the living room and talks about what his next sermon will be and quotes bible verses that literally shame the two men into apologizing and being more honest with him. It was quite the scene!

The acting throughout was first rate and strangely enough I thought James Stewart was the weak link in the cast. I just didn't think young Jason would grow up to be like Stewart though to Stewart's credit he adapted his acting a bit to show that he wasn't totally pure in the typical "golly shucks" way that he often portrayed himself in other roles. It's quite subtle but it's there.

Walter Huston was fantastic as Ethan and Beulah Bondi was terrific as the mother Mary. The entire cast was quite believable in their roles and you could easily picture such a small community back in those days populated by those characters. Despite the Lincoln scene this movie has my full recommendation and a solid ***

I plan to continue with the horse racing theme that TCM is doing this month and will watch all/most of the racing related movies tonight.

Gangs of New York - DDL, DiCaprio, and Scorsese = very good movie.

Heat - Great movie up until the shoot out scene, then got a little bored. Would still recommend. Reminds me alot of The Town.

The Big Lebowski - Alright, I'm convinced I have a nonexistent sense of humor. Literally everyone I know recommended this movie and it fell flat for me. I'm sure there are subtleties I would pick up on if I watched it again, but I doubt I'd find them that funny. Going to avoid comedies from now on.

The Killing Fields - Holy ****, that was intense. It's a film about two photographers trapped in Cambodia during the rule of the Khmer Rogue. Based on a true story. Anyone who has Netflix instant watch should watch this film when the time presents itself.

Blue Valentine- I thought this movie was outstanding. It honestly was still in my mind hours after the movie ended. Both of the leads were superb, and that was the only reason this movie worked because it was oh so depressing. But I would say it was beautifully depressing. The characters and emotions were so true and real that it sucked me in and took me for a the ride through its simultaneously-told story of the rise and fall of a relationship. The chemistry between Gosling and Williams was unmatched by any movie I've seen in years and I was left wondering why Gosling wasn't nominated for best lead as well because his performance was off the charts.

If you can handle this type of slightly slow and depressing but immersive movie I highly recommend it... probably in my top 5 movies of last year.

Two For The Money - Never heard of this before and rented because I thought the sports betting theme would be interesting. Solid cast including Al Pacino, Matthew McConuaghey, and Jeremy Piven. Not great but I enjoyed the sports betting and how addicting it can become.

The Green Hornet: Pretty good. Not great. Not as good as I thought it would be. It's funny a lot of the time, there's some kickass action, but there's also plenty of points where the movie drags.

Worth a rental. Maybe a buy in a year or two when it comes way down in price.
