      Underworld Awakening 5.5

Pretty terrible actually. It blows my mind, when they decide to make a sequel or any movie for that matter. Don't the director look at the story and script? This movie was terrible.

The story doesn't even make sense, they took everything that was cool about the Underworld movie and made it your generic sc-fi movie about wolves and vampires. The whole legacy behind their origin is completely forgotten and the movie just throws crap at you from random areas; out of all the Underworld movies this is definitely the worst.

The only cool factor was the giant size lycan. The freaking Alpha Lycan should of been that size in all of the original movies. If this series gets another one, i'm hoping its more in the sense of Rise of The Lycans then this crap we got.

          Warrior.

I thought this was a well-done movie. Nick Nolte was really good and the actors playing the 2 lead characters were good, in particular the guy that played Tommy; the facial expressions in the final fight by him were outstanding.

While there were some unrealistic things in the story (purse for the Sparta tournament was ridiculous) but in the end, Warrior was about a very fractured family starting to put some of the pieces back together.

By far the best MMA-themed movie out there.

Yeah you are right, never back down 2 was where the real genius was to be found.

Totally agree about Warrior, close to the best movie I saw last year.

I'm with you on Warrior. I've seen some real good movies the past week:

                  Warrior
                  Moneyball
                  Drive

All 3 were rentals and they blew away anything else I had seen at the theater in 2011.

Very interesting movie. I can understand why some might find it riveting and also why some may just pass it by. It's definitely an interesting movie but maybe not my cup of tea.

The characters were definitely interesting, yet i found the story sort of boring. But i must say the cinematography was really good and the style of the movie was very catchy

This movie really made me think what the hell happened to Eddie Murphy? He just used to be so awesome and I know he's done a bunch of kids movies etc but I thought in this we would see the Eddie of old in a more adult comedy and he seemed really watered down and subdued.
Life was the last movie of his I enjoyed.
I dont think he will return to those types of movies. '83-'99 was his best years.

Thanks for posting that. I had forgotten about this movie, so I'll have to look for it next time I'm at the rental store.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

I just got back from seeing an early screening of Project X tonight, and I saw one for Wanderlust last night.

Starting with Wanderlust, it's a very predictable, forgettable comedy about two people from the city who go to a hippie commune. It's a very, very crude film that crosses the line one too many times. I'm all for some crassness, but jeeze, it was a little over board, especially with the nudity. There were some very funny moments, but the story lacked anything special and didn't do much at all for me. It's not the worst movie I've ever seen, but I would have been mad had I spent money to see it.

Project X was a completely different story. It's about three high school seniors who throw the most insane party I've ever seen. The movie was just plain fun to watch, had some really funny moments, and was well made overall. It's a shaky cam movie, so if you're easily thrown by a ton of jerky camera movements you may want to stay away. The movie itself, while semi-predictable, gave a story that I really enjoyed and a lot of laughs. It's all crazy over the top, so as long as you go in expecting that, it's an easy one to enjoy. Take the movie for what it is, and don't expect too much. That's what I did and I came out really enjoying it. It's the high school version of the Hangover, so if you hated that movie, you probably won't like this. It looked like one of the most fun movies to make. All I thought the entire time was how much fun it would have been to be there. It doesn't have much rewatch value, but it's definitely worth at least a trip to the movies.
