If anyone has seen "Meeting Evil" (Samuel L. Jackson, Luke Wilson) can you please explain your interpretation of the ending. I'm really not sure if it was a good or horrible movie. If it's what I thought, the ending kinda wasted the whole plot.Alabama Crimson Tide
New Orleans Saints
Kyle Busch #18
Atlanta Braves

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I haven't watched a movie in some time so here we go with an obscure Italian production that was filmed using english dialogue. (I assume there's an Italian dub of this somewhere as well) The movie was released in 1988 and filmed in the Miami area. It's weird though as filming in Miami seemed to be a cottage industry for Italian film makers in the '80s. Anyways this movie was a Rocky rip off but an interesting one.....
Qualcuno pagherà AKA The Opponent AKA Uppercut Man (1988)
Basically the plot is that Bobby Mulligan (Daniel Greene) is an up and coming boxer who works a night shift at a bar and has a girlfriend who works for her father who's a grocer. (Ernest Borgnine!) Her father disapproves of Mulligan as he feels he's a good for nothing loser. Mulligan however wants to get a shot at being a great boxer and against his trainer Larry's (Bill Wohrman) wishes ends up working for a shady boxing promoter Martin Durante. (Giuliano Gemma) The movie then turns into your typical boxing flick with Gemma being a corrupt promoter who rigs fights and so on. There's other stuff that goes on which creates a convoluted setup for the finish of the film.
This movie was pretty cheesy but cheesy in a fun way. Greene had a strange charm for him as he looked like your typical thug but was a total nice guy. The acting wasn't very good especially by Gemma who you could tell was probably reading cue cards at times because English wasn't his first language but despite that I thought he made a pretty good villain. The boxing scenes were actually not half bad as they kept the scenes short and to the point. The final match was choreographed quite well with great use of slow motion and was a bit bloody.
The main reason why I watched this was to see Ernest Borgnine and the fact that it was an Italian knock off of Rocky. Borgnine didn't have much to do in the movie but he actually kinda fit in pretty well. The champ in the movie was played by NFL HOF'er Lenny Moore and current (at the time) Dolphins player AJ Duhe had a bit part in the flick as well. The movie was pretty fast paced which kept me entertained and didn't get me to thinking too much about the improbable things. (like Durante having his thugs kill Bobby's trainer for basically no reason except to get petty revenge) So this wasn't great by any means and it was low budget but I liked it enough.
Honestly speaking this is about a 1 1/2 star flick but i bumped it up to 2 stars because I found it entertaining in its own way. Oh and it had one of the catchiest theme songs ever IMO even if it was cheesy just like this movie LOL.
Next i'm starting a bit of a project and will be watching all 4 of the Matt Helm spy films that Dean Martin did in the '60s.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

100% accurate, there were a few parts that werent shown in the trailer that were a little humorous but overall it was just complete garbage in the end that barely kept me awake long enough to finish it.Comment

I just watched the Extended Cut of Avatar for the first time. I already really enjoyed Avatar, but the extended cut was a nice improvement for me. Added some interesting scenes. Nothing groundbreaking or anything that fundamentally alters the story, but it was just cool to see more of it.Comment

It's coming but yeah, ridiculous that it has taken until October 2012 to get that. Avatar should've been the selling point for 3D TVs.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Just saw Project X.
It got me really pumped for the weekend but it was a bit ridiculous at the end. I learned something new though - I now know how boobs move around when swimming. If I recall correctly, the girl was doing a breast stroke (heh!). I've no idea if they move the same way when using other strokes.
5/10. Maybe 5.5/10 for the boobs.Comment

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within - I was very impressed with just how good this movie looked. It was made in 2001, but the visuals certainly hold up today. I thought the story was pretty good and it held my interest throughout. I wasn't a big fan of the ending, but other than that I enjoyed it.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Think Like A Man
The film was nothing more than a 2 hour commercial for Steve Harvey's book. Predictable story and Kevin Hart's character was the only one to make me laugh.
Meagon Good having a major roll was the lone bright spot.Comment

Expendables. 3/5 stars. Bad acting but I wasn't expecting much from a typical action movie. I'll see the 2nd one on Netflix.
