Always enjoy the detailed review by SPTO. I tend to typically post a quick-hits, notes-style review, but from time-to-time, I will go into more detail (had a long Purple Rain write-up a few weeks ago).

I watched Napoleon Dynamite the other night, but haven't had a chance to get all of my thoughts together in terms of a review. Hopefully I find time tomorrow to do so.

Caught Lawless the other night - pretty bad *** movie. Dragged in a few parts, but the actors really carried this one. Hardy has yet to disappoint and turns in another phenomenal role. Shia actually did a damn good job playing up being the younger brother - weak, annoying and stupid at times but played so convincingly that he deserves credit.

Guy Pearce stole the show, however. What a despicable bad guy. Definitely recommended if you haven't seen it.

Also saw Paranormal Activity 4. What a let down after 3 (which I thought was the best of the series). Really anticlimactic and totally killed any momentum the series had in my mind. Not looking forward to checking out part 5 anymore.

I will say I did enjoy parts of it, though.

I saw that movie for the first time last year and wasn't impressed at all with it.

Maybe it was the hype I've always heard surrounding it, maybe it's that I didn't see it when it first came out in the moment like that, maybe it's that nobody paddled freshman at my high school, I don't know. Just didn't like it that much.

Big fan of that one, too. Lot of really good movies released in that 1990-94 window.

Thanks guys I try to bring some detail to my movie posts whether it be something from this past year or something from 1931 LOL!

Again, thanks for reading, much appreciated.

                      Wreck It Ralph

Even after seeing others opinions on this all be the same I was sure I'd love this. Everyone else was right. Decent but not nearly what was expected. Maybe it's just the other recent "made for kids" movies being so good raising expectations.

                      Girls Against Boys

A <s>writer trying to write a novel in the woods</s>...<s>girl celebrating her 18th birthday at the family cottage</s>...<s>door to door bible salesgirl</s>...bartenderess is raped and <s>she</s>...<s>her parents</s>...a co-worker goes on a murderous rampage of those responsible. There's two other plot points that go entirely unexplored. Unlike its many predecessors most of the explict content happens off camera resulting in it not being very good. A B-movie/grindhouse style plot without the stuff that make them fun. I guess maybe they wanted to keep it down in an attempt to make a scene towards the end more effective but really just made the whole thing suffer for it if that was the case.

I don't think ill ever watch most of the movies you post about, but I still appreciate your love for film and the detail you go into.

(Note - I don't think I've ever read any of your reviews. I'm just assuming you love film and are detailed and those aren't novels about nothing. )

Uhm, I have only seen the original version. I hear the remake is almost identical though. I thought the original was excellent and quite chilling.

Game of Thrones, season 2. Just finished the last episode. Not a good as season 1 but still down right epic. Great story telling and acting.

I can't recall wanting to see a character get his as much as Joffery.

Headhunters, a great little crime movie/dark comedy from Norway. Highly entertaining.
