Saw Homeland. I think the fight scenes leading up to the climax were really the best of this.

Also, watched "When Jews Were Funny" (documentary) on Netflix. Especially for the younger guys who don't really have a hold on "classic" comedians and the genesis of comedy, you should see this. It's a great look into the Jewish mind/brand of comedy and how it integrates with the culture. For those of us who have seen some of these comics growing up, there's a few who are hard to see in their twilight years, Jack Carter in particular. I think it is also a great testament to the mindset of the earlier culture at large being less sensitive to laughing at ourselves versus the hyper-PC culture of today. In essence, you couldn't make a jab at Jews then better than they could jab themselves. You just weren't in their league comedically.

Three for three. Cool little romantic comedy with the guy from The League and the gal from Parks & Recs. Probably never would have heard of it had I not stumbled across it because of Netflix wacky recommendation system.
Loved that movie. Aubrey was so perfect in it.

Saw Grand Budapest Hotel last night. Wes Anderson is incredible at creating zany, imaginative worlds that are fun to experience. Definitely a quirky and unique movie, but wonderful if you are looking for something a little different.

Just got home from The Neighbors. A bit up and down comedy-wise, but I liked it. There were some really great scenes, and there were some pretty unfunny ones, but luckily the good scenes outnumbered that bad by a pretty good number.

Damn, I was talking about his appearances on Fallon and Conan and all that.

I really liked Godzilla. Not as much as Pacific Rim, but I thought it was great. Needed more Bryan Cranston though.

Do you think he was a good casting move for this film or did he seem out of place? In light of his BB performance, I guess I see him in more intense dramas versus being in the sci-fi world which he's now done twice.

I think it was just fine for him. It's unfair to just call him "the guy from Breaking Bad" and compare everything he does to that, because he has a collection of work that extends far beyond and before that.

His character was kind of one-dimensional (but which one wasn't?) and I think I got out of it what I needed. I don't think more of him would have helped fill a void in the film itself, other than serve one's pleasure of watching him on the big screen.

I didn't/wasn't classifying him as that.... I said "in light of". Actually, his collection involved more bit roles and specialty characters outside of Malcolm in the Middle, which really surprised me. I think in light of his abilities shown in BB, his stronger suit could be dramas.

                      The Imposter

Documentary about the 3 year disappearance of a 13 year old Texas boy and the return to his family...

Some seriously shady characters involved in this story, man. Check it out if you have Netflix and enjoy documentaries. Truly bizarre.

                        Godzilla was a solid movie.

It was a slow build so if you're expecting action, action, action, you're wrong, wrong, wrong.

The Prisoners. I liked the movie OK, but looking back on it, it really wasn't very well written. The maze snake guy really didn't make much sense at all. I guess they needed something to throw the police off track because they were bungling everything else in the investigation.

The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug - So much better than the first one, just as (to me) Two Towers was such a leap over Fellowship. When Jackson doesn't have to tell all the 'set-up' parts of the story, ****ing incredible. Smaug was awesome, as well.

Speaking of Godzilla, one of the DirectTV movie stations(think Chiller or something like that) has been having a Godzilla marathon the past few days. I ended up watching Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla

Also, anyone else get randomly drawn in by some of the movies TCM shows? I don't mind watching older movies, but I don't really seek them out. I ended up watching The Haunting(the original) last night, great movie.

About 2 years too late, but finally got around to watching the Avengers. Fantastic movie, and I've got a long list of superhero movies to catch up on yet.
