Mad Max - It felt like a Borderlands aesthetic, though, I should probably say Borderlands feels like Mad Max. It felt like a B movie at times particularly with the score and some of the shots. Even though it's a fairly understated movie there's a sense of lunacy just beneath the surface and a dated BAMF factor.

It looks like I'll have to pick up the bluray for Road Warrior. Unfortunately the trilogy is priced just as insane as Toecutter.

    Remember the Night Rider.

      Get On Up

I'm a fan of biopics and I really liked this one, not as much as Ray but its still very good plus how can you not groove when you hear James Brown music. Chadwick Boseman, wow, he did fantastic and the work he had to put in to get James Brown's moves had to be painful. Out of all movies about musicians I thought the music scenes were the best I've seen. I may be biased because its James Brown but I got happy when it was about to be music time. On point performance by Boseman.

        Equalizer

I really liked it! May have been my favorite movie of the year. A really good "revenge" and "protect the weak" type movie. Denzel is nasty in this movie. Highly recommend to anyone that wants a good action movie.

          Nightcrawler

Pretty solid flick, I enjoyed it. Jake Gyllenhall killed it in this performance, just a world class actor doing his thing again. From what I've seen its Oscar worthy but I yet to see a number of the Oscar buzz films yet.

          Act like a Man too

I enjoyed the first one a lot, this one not so much. Had some jokes but it's plain and simple a cash grab.

We saw it as well. Good action film for sure. Not up to the level of Man On Fire, but that's probably his highest bar, imo. Definitely worth a see, though.

                Blended

Pretty much Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore mailing it in. Had a couple chuckles but no where close to 50 first dates. Happy Madison used to be awesome, they haven't made a good movie in a long time

                Men, Women and Children

Wow, this movie was really good. Adam Sandler is in it but its a nice group of actors in this one. The kid for Fault in our Stars was one of the leads and I'm really impressed with this kid, he's got the chops to act and hope he keeps growing, he'll be big in the future.

The movie itself was really interesting and dealt with technology and how it plays a role in our lives. Everyone on this board can relate to this movie and its pretty sad seeing some of the relationships and the things everyone goes through.

I found this to be an interesting look at present day Hollywood. I agree with a lot of the guy's points.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Seems like a pretty spot on analysis. I think it's cool that were getting all these DC/Marvel movies as it's cool to see these comics come to life and it's obviously a money maker. Star Wars is another franchise that makes sense too keep making movies about.

A majority of these other sequels is just stretching it now, just because it kind of did well doesn't mean you gotta pump out another 2-3 movies. 3 movies about animals from Harry Potter? WTF

I enjoy Click. Never saw Reign Over Me. Funny People is okay, though Sandler in it was better than the movie itself was.

That's My Boy seemed like such a reach for Sandler. Like he was trying to tap into his 90's days. It seemed very forced.

Adam Sandler is no Burt Reynolds and he never looked like he played football, let alone at a higher level.

I've stopped watching all the super-hero movies because I'm just burned out on them. Seeing that list of upcoming sequels (I'm looking at you, Hot Tub Time Machine 2 and Paul Blart Mall Cop 2) is laughable. Very little originality in move-making these days.
