Inherent Vice is on Amazon, time to rewatch it in better-than-screener quality!

Mockingjay out digitally too, but with how brutal and dark that movie was I'm not really in a big hurry to watch it again.

Inherent Vice- It was good. I think my expectations were a little too high going in based on who directed and the cast. I was a little let down with how slow it was during parts. Plus it was kinda long.

Birdman- Awesome, loved it. Amazing cast, camera work was cool, good plot, funny at times. It's a toss up between this and Grand Budapest as my favorite that's up for Best Picture (haven't seen American Sniper, Imitation Game or Whiplash). I doubt Budapest wins though, but the other three noms I saw weren't near as good to me. Really though the cast was superb, love Emma Stone, Galifinakis, and Norton. Keaton probably deserves the oscar. Was also glad it didn't end the way I thought it was gonna (twice).

"The Suspect". Was looking for things to watch on Netflix and stumbled upon this solid Korean action movie. The production values were good, a bunch of good stunts and even two solid car chases. The plot revolves around a top North Korean spy who defects to South Korea. His main goal is to try to hunt down who killed his wife and kid, but ends up in a Bourne like plot where he has to take down a corrupt system while avoiding everyone after him.

I just finished watching a theory of everything. the movie was okay for a biography. felt kind of formulaic like imitation game was. However, im pretty sure its a lock that eddie redmayne wins for best actor ...which is a shame because michael keaton was great in birdman

The Judge. One of the better movies I've seen the past few years. Fantastic on all counts aside from some predictability.

I got to choose the Saturday Night Movie this week, so no Nicholas Sparks!

I chose Dumb and Dumber To because I was just in that type of mood that I didn't want anything too serious. With that, the movie hit the spot for me; I giggled and shook my head in disbelief and embarrassment for a hour and fifty minutes.

Yeah, the producers really made a stink bomb. Those guys are losing their touch. Those old guys are really looking really old. Ha, ha, ha, ha. Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly, you really are writing a lot of half buttocks material. Congratulations, you really messed up BIG TIME.

Horrible Bosses 2. I don't know why it got bad reviews. I found it to be absolutely hilarious and I thought every character was great.

Big Hero 6: A little dark for a family movie, but I absolutely loved it. Might be my favorite Disney movie of all-time.

                          Chinatown:
Can see why this is a classic. Great performances from Nicholson, Dunaway, Huston, etc. Plenty of plot twists and has a powerful ending.

                          The Bourne Legacy:
Hated it. The feel was so completely different from the other Bourne movies. It was really slow and had an incredibly stupid plot. I at least thought it would be entertaining and would have the typical Bourne trademark of great action/chase scenes, but it didn't even have that. The ending was puzzling as well.

                          Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter:
Enjoyed it for what it was; it's one of those movies where, because the whole premise is sort of a joke, you can't even take the "serious" parts seriously.

                          Catch Me If You Can:
Enjoyed it. It was pretty entertaining and I liked the chemistry between Leo and Christopher Walken. Leo was in super-troll mode the entire time.

                          Up:
Really liked it. Family movies always have a tough time finding a balance between appealing to the adults watching it with broader themes about life and keeping kids entertained, but this one did a good job. In particular,

American Beauty (for the 2nd time): Didn't love it the first time I saw it, but I have a greater appreciation for the subtleties and themes now that I've seen it again. It's one of the more interesting viewing experiences in film IMO. Kevin Spacey absolutely kills it.

Speed (for the 4th or 5th time):
Had been a while since I had seen this movie, so I needed a refresher on why it's one of my favorite movies. Dennis Hopper was so great in this movie.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Rent (2008)- not exactly my forte both in genre and in topic matter but I have to say this was a fantastic movie in that it retained the feel of the Broadway play but by being a film you get a sense of the larger world around the characters. Many of the relationships and interactions felt very natural and not forced. The whole relationship between Collins and Angel was the spiritual (for lack of a better term) backbone to the film whereas the love/hate conflict between Roger and Mimi was grounded more in reality.

I did find that this movie took the musical genre to its boundaries as about 90% of it was done in song. It's not exactly conventional BUT it further enhanced the "out of time" ethereal quality to it. It doesn't hurt that the plot takes place over the course of the Christmas of '89 to the Christmas of '90. That being said, Chris Columbus had some problems that couldn't be avoided. While the actual place where the characters lived definitely looked of its time other elements such as riding the subway and the few times they had to film in what looked like Manhattan it was tougher to disguise the modern NYC. Nonetheless the mood and feel of the era is definitely there.

The story shows that despite what background you are or your sexual preference we as people can rise above that and become a community and a family. It's a wonderful little film that I give 4 ****. It lost me a little bit between the protest event and the reprise of "seasons of love".

So I was drug to this Fifty Shades of whatever the **** this weekend and I have no problem backing up this statement: it is without question the worst "movie" I have ever seen. Gentlemen, if your lady ever suggests going to the theater to sit through this steaming pile of cinematic feces, I suggest you fake a serious illness unless buying a $20 bag of vomit is what you're into. It was the most heinous form of torture I have ever, and probably will ever experience. Two hours I will never get back and if it had lasted a minute longer I may have just pulled my own plug right there. I beg of thee, don't repeat my mistakes. Good day.
