Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Kingsman
****ing awesome action flick. Never thought Colin Firth would be a bad *** spy but he does some crazy ****. Surprisingly Sam L Jackson is a great villain and his main body guard sword legs lady was bad ***.
Egzy, the kid in the movie did really well, the training sequence was well done, and the gun play was staight awesome.
Definitely recommend it, super fun film to watch and very violent.
Church scene
SpoilerHoly ****, that was ****in crazy!! Amazingly done with Freebird as the soundtrack, just perfect. Also enjoyed sword leg lady a lot, it was awesome when she was break dance fighting with EgzyComment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
The lens flare look nearly ruined the first one in some aspects for me. At least he toned it down considerably for the 2nd film. I'm waiting to be blinded by all the lens flare off of droids and such in the new Star Wars movie LOL.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Saw The Lazarus Effect the other night. Really a dumb horror movie and completely forgettable.
Finally saw The Grand Budapest Hotel. Liked it a lot, though not as much as I anticipated. The acting was excellent, especially Ralph Fiennes, who was just superb.NCAA: Michigan Wolverines

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Charley Varrick (1973) This is one of those movies i've heard about for years but never got a chance to see until now. It's a fantastic movie and has to be counted as one of the very best performances in Walter Mathau's career. He's just the right age, disposition and had the right demeanor for the role. There's also the fact that throughout the film he completely outsmarts EVERYONE!
Essentially he and his partners set out to rob a bank which they do but not without loss as his wife who's also in the job gets killed which creates a lead for both the cops and....Well it turns out the money they took belongs to the mob. So now they got the mob after em as well. Varrick and his partner decide to make off with the money to Mexico with his (Varrick's) crop duster. In the end it's not as simple as all that...I won't spoil the rest.
Great acting throughout this movie with Joe Don Baker playing the tactless mob muscle out to get the money for his employers while John Vernon is the shady head of the banking chain that owns the bank that was robbed. He, himself has connections with the mob as well.
Don Siegel does a tremendous job directing this movie especially the beginning sequence that shows the bank robbery. In fact, all the elaborate scenes showing what the various characters are doing are very well conveyed and don't need much dialogue. The music score by Lalo Schifrin was quite tense and heightened the mood. He kept some of the more discordant sounds of his usual style to a minimum (though they're still there at times) which was much appreciated by this viewer.
I give this movie a strong 4 stars.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
We watched Whiplash Friday night. J.K. Simmons was as advertised. Holy Smokes he was something else; anytime a supporting character can outshine the main character by that much you know it's a quality performance.
SpoilerI just didn't appreciate the ending. I understand it was in that moment that Fletcher was able to witness the result he was obsessed with in driving his students. But, it felt too rushed or patronizing or something to me. Maybe over analyzing it.Comment

Into The Woods. I wanted to get out of the woods as soon as possible. What a mess. And exactly who's daughter and/or other family member is it that got the roll for Little Red Riding Hood. When you have that part you should be cute and/or be able to sing. No check marks under either.Comment

Predestination- Great flick. Movie actually does a good job at keeping in line with the short story the movie is based on. 1 of the better sci-fi movies I've seen in a whileLast edited by bigfnjoe96; 03-02-2015, 09:06 PM.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Big Hero 6: WATCH THIS MOVIE RIGHT NOW! For real. Last movie that I felt like this about while still watching it was The LEGO Movie, but I think it's more impressive because this wasn't based on an existing brand as far as I know. (Okay just checked and it is... shut up.) Baymax is so friggin' lovable and cheesey. The fist bump... I can totally relate.
Horrible Bosses 2: didn't care to check it out because I thought the first was kinda dumb. But I ended up enjoying it. Jason Bateman stole the show in my opinion. Been binging on Friends on Netflix so I'm very familiar with Jennifer Aniston but damn, she may be getting better with age. Nah not really but she's still fine.
Nightcrawler: whoa! That's how I felt at one point even if it wasn't entirely surprising. Good movie and definitely worth a watch. Jake Gyllenhaal is a creep in this one.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds
