Birdman. It was alright. Quite original, I just didn't love it.

Dumb and Dumber 2. Meh. Waste of almost 2 hours, IMO.

I watched Tangled recently and it is now one of my favorite movies! Disney princesses are the best and I sometimes get highly emotional and close to crying in those Disney princess movies.

It Follows. Good, just not as good as the hype led me to believe.

Not intentional but saw Olympus Has Fallen, John Wick and The Equalizer again. I should probably watch Taken to round out the "retired bad *** mother ****ers who come out of retirement because you pissed him off" movies.

Really hoping for sequels for John Wick and The Equalizer.

I haven't seen Mama Mia, but Tangled is a good movie. Closest to Aladdin that Disney has gotten.

Does he have to be? Movies make me cry all the time.

Anyways, I'm currently watching The Sandlot. I don't care how many times I've seen it, I'll watch it over and over.

I liked the music, Streep, and I'm a big fan of Christine Baranski (Cybill and The Good Wife).

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

I watched a fabulous western last night (unfortunately the print is quite bad) called Stranger On Horseback (1955) starring Joel McCrea. It was directed by the great Jacques Tourneur.

Basically it's about McCrea being a judge sent out to a western town owned by a crusty land baron named Bannerman (John McIntire) McCrea gets caught up in the internal politics of the place when he finds out that Bannerman's son John (Kevin McCarthy) shot a man in cold blood.

That's all i'll say about the plot but it's a very good little film that sees McCrea as the upright judge fighting against the corrupt "law" of the Bannerman clan. The film is dotted with great performances by John Carradine as the prosecutor in Bannerman's pocket, Emile Meyer as the sheriff who finally gets to enforce the law rather than being bullied by the Bannermans and Miroslava as Bannerman's daughter who is fast with a whip and will use her charms to get her way.

Even though the movie is slight (65 minutes) it packs a good punch despite the lack of any real gunplay. The story is the main thing here and it's a strong one as it's adapted from a Louis L'Amour story. If you can find it I suggest watching it as it's very enjoyable.

I guess it's an indirect or implied question of can/should animated movies make grown men cry. It's not black and white. Depends on one's constitution and then how well certain characters and stories are portrayed in the movie. Generally, I don't, but "Boo" in "Monsters, Inc." really chokes me up. Best portrayal of a real kid I've ever seen in an animated movie imo.

As far as The Sandlot... it just doesn't get any better. That's why I didn't care for it when the Yankees reprised one of the scenes. By the way, when I did rosters for MVP baseball, I took a line from the movie for the roster pack name (Base Up!)

Regarding this, animated movies generally don't make me cry but two animated films did bring out the waterworks.
