Kingsman: The Golden Circle. It was pretty good, but so much wasted potential. Not on par with the first. Let's hope they pick it up in third one.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Finally got around to seeing Baby Driver this past weekend. I didn't love it the way I expected to, but it was a pretty solid action movie. The music was awesome as expected.
It felt like they had a cool concept for a movie but didn't have an ending for it and kinda threw something together at the end though; any semblance of reality dissolved in the last 30ish minutes to the point that I literally laughed out loud at the final chase scene, and then it got even goofier after that.
But the first 80% of the movie was good.NFL: Bills

Watched Wonder Woman this weekend, I loves me some 4k UHD blu ray
Gal Gabot....oyyyyy.....she is a work of art, as they say in the film.
Anyway, the movie was very good. I already had an idea of the character from Batman vs Superman, but this movie delivered a fine origin story, and Pine's character was fun (as usual) and actually served a good plot purpose.
There were some pretty stirring scenes, particularly her battlefield charge across No Man's Land. I have to admit that by the end of it, I had no idea she was such a bad ***. No wonder she just smirked like 'Oh, it's on now' at 'Doomsday/Zod' in BvS.GO 'HAWKS!

Saw the new Spider-Man. Liked it, didn't love it. Too much of the best friend/side-kick. Great twist though. Some scenes seemed a bit forced and killed the flow. Would like to see it again just for the fight scenes.
Erin Brockovich. Actually held up well. I think it's Roberts' best film.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Thinking of watching the 5th Pirates movie. I didn't see the 4th one. I know the 5th is more like continuation of 3rd based on the characters in it, but is the 4th one worth watching? And is the 5th one worth watching either?Comment

Cult of Chucky-
Before I start, I want to say I love the child's play series. Bridge of Chucky and seed of Chucky, terrible movies. Bride wasn't completely terrible since it was campy but seed of Chucky was awful.
With that being said, I thought curse of Chucky was a good return to form, this though was terrible. Started off well but fell apart a little more than halfway. They've injected humor into the series with Bride of Chucky and never got away from it. The humor completely undercuts the horror.
There's a way to balance horror and humor but this isn't it. When the humor factor comes from the entity of horror, it really undercuts the entire movie. Chucky always making comments, yea at first its funny but it makes the horror pointless.
In terms of the actual plot, start off with potential and like the rest of the movie falls apart. The asylum while it should add to the characters, it just makes them feel so "stupid" even for being in a horror movie.
The twist as well is so stupid in my opinion. I was so let down by the movie last night. Curse of Chucky was going in the right direction and it's like they deviated back into campy humor.
4.5/10 for meComment

Blade Runner
I went to a double screening last night of the original Blade Runner and the new sequel. It has been awhile since I've seen the original. Admittedly, I've never seen the theatrical version and I still haven't. The Director's/Final Cut ending is the only one I've seen. There isn't much to be said that hasn't been said one million times over. The atmosphere is tangible. The cinematography is beautiful. The score washes over you like a warm wave. At it's core it's a gritty noir, but the themes it explores throughout the course of it's runtime elevates it from a Sam Spade level. Rutger Hauer is the scene stealer in this and he is equally haunting and eloquent.
This continues to be one of my favorites for many reasons and somehow manages to make itself better with each watch.
Blade Runner 2049
This follows closely along the path of it's predecessor creating it's atmosphere through cinematography and a blanketing score, but it's clear from the opening scene the film pushes out in a different direction. 2049 explores similar themes to the original while building and expanding onto them. The cast is wonderful, but the highlight for me was Joi played by Ana de Armas. Watching her character arc as personnel AI is exceptional.
I can't really say too much without spoiling anything as everything works in tandem to further the plot and it's related themes. What I can say is it holds up well in comparison to the original and on it's own it is a fantastic film.

Blade Runner 2049. Fantastic. Hard to live up to the original, but this one does. Don't want to spoil anything so I'll just say the movie has some amazing cinematography.Lux y VeritasComment

I watched the new remake of Beauty and the Beast and I thought it was absolutely terrible. I didn’t even want to finish it. My wife thought the same thing.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Blade Runner 2049 punches you in the face with cinematography and score. Constantly thinking about different scenes and sounds from the movie. Denis Villeneuve is my favorite director at the moment, i think he's a genius. Ever since Prisoners, he's been knocking it out of the park.
You definitely need to find the best sound system in your town and watch it, wow. Sensory overload.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Finished up watching "The Dark Tower."
As a movie it's okay. Should've been so much better with the source material (can't make an hour and twenty minute movie, come on) and the lead actors they got but it just...wasn't.
As an adaptation, it's a piece of trash.Comment
