been meaning to for the last couple years, but finally got around to Bad Times at the El Royale. had a Tarentino vibe as for the story but the dialogue was nothing like a Q penned script. every time I thought I had figured out what was gonna happen next, I was completely fooled. one of my favorite exchanges was when the guy running the El Royale said he saw a man ''lay'' with a wolf, and that ''it wasn't sexual. but it wasn't not sexual either'' lol, classic

I didn't like how they drew out the final act, but other than that I liked it. Not enough to get the Blu-ray, though (unless it's like $4.99).

Were you just watching it on FXX? Haha.

Seen it a few times. Thought pretty unique and entertaining. I like the way it played out just fine. Also, I'm assuming they were talking about ...

Not Sly's best film ever, but I've always enjoyed it.

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring (Theatrical Version)

My 4k version of the LoTR trilogy arrived today. I sat down to watch the first movie. I didn't really pay attention to the disc that I put in, and when it ended after just 1 disc I was confused....and then I realized that the extended editions of the trilogy were to the back of the case. #fail.

My epic fail aside, the movie is absolutely gorgeous in 4k, and the sound quality is top notch.

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
                Extended edition

I made sure to pick out the right disc(s) this time.

It was interesting watching Fellowship extended edition so soon after watching the theatrical edition. The first time that I watched the extended edition was years after the last time I had originally seen the movies. So, while I could tell that there were new scenes, I couldn't quite figure out which ones were new. Watching them in close proximity made me appreciate the extended version more.

In this case, when I watched the theatrical version a week or two ago I remember there being a few scenes where things just seemed to have fast forwarded. I could easily spot those filler scenes this time around, and most of them offered clarity to the story and to the following scenes that 5he theatrical version skipped to.

                Solid movie.

I much prefer the Extended editions of Fellowship and The Two Towers.

The Return Of The King already feels like an extended version LOL!!!

A Christmas Carol (2019) with Guy Pearce.

You know, there was so much that was so good about this adaptation as it started out. The cast, the dramatic buildup and intensity in meeting the elements of the past. Then.... political correctness had to be inserted. But I could overlook it as it went on, the actress playing Mrs Cratchett did a formidable job keeping it relatively believable. But then that additional element had to be inserted. And in conclusion this iconic perennial classic was explained as being orchestrated by an angry, traumatized sorceress.

Way to ruin a relatively otherwise great re-telling.

Lord of the Rings: The 2 Towers (4k extended)

Continuing on my LOTR quest...the run time of this movie is 3 hours and 43 minutes, and it still felt like it flew by. It's the lowest rated movie of the trilogy on IMDB (an abysmal 8.7), but it's my favorite of the 3.

And again the 4k was stellar.

It's amazing how quickly the 40 minutes of Helms Deep flies by. I can't think of another battle sequence in a movie that was ever better.

Helms Deep, all of the great Gimli quotes in that movie, and of course the Ents.

Pixar knocked it out of the park.

EDIT: Well, I'll say they tripled in a couple of runs. I'm reflecting about what I saw during the credits, and I definitely see glaring weaknesses in the film. But the overall production was on point, and it got me jazzing only in a way that Pixar can. I think this is one of their very good ones.
