    Monster Hunter

Extremely mediocre. Even that is probably overselling it. Underwhelming action, awkward character interactions, and just not good.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

        The Tomorrow War.

My taste in movies probably doesn't align with a lot of people's. But I really liked it. I thought the story was pretty original for an alien invasion movie.

There were some cheesy parts, but I like Chris Pratt, and love JK Simmons. Also Yvonne Strzechowski was really good in it. She was in the final season of 24. She's really good at playing a bad ***.

The action was good, and the comedic relief was timely and well done.

There are also parts that tug at your heart strings.

Overall it was a good movie for an original streaming service film. I give it a 4/5. But I like action, and I like aliens. So some may give it a lower score.

          In The Heights
This was superb across the board. Songs are awesome and the narrative itself is great. Definitely a lot going on here, but even at just the surface level it's a great time celebrating community, family, and an unfiltered look into American life for many. My only criticism is the female vocalists sounded too similar and reminded me more of a Disney princess than anything within this particular story. Small criticism because this was superb from start to finish which is a feat considering the 2.5 hour runtime.

          Lethal Weapon 2
A bit more intentional comedy this go around and a bit more outlandish as well, but still a gripping story and overall fantastically entertaining. Danny and Mel continue their amazing chemistry and charm. I think the first film is more memorable, but this movie felt like more fun overall.

I loved it [emoji23]. When you sit down and think about it it’s a pretty dumb movie but man the action was sick and the acting wasn’t bad.

The set pieces were amazing, the sound of the guns. The aliens were scary and unstoppable.

I mean they did try to fit in three movies into one, it went on an hour too long but I had fun and that’s what these movies are about.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed Nobody. It was a sappy, over-the-top action movie, yet it was fun.

The concept is great, but they intentionally weren't going for historical accuracy at all. The cavemen we follow are way too apelike for 80,000 years ago. In reality they'd have looked and behaved essentially like we do today. They barely even talk in this movie, they mostly make ape noises. Then at the beginning they get attacked by this band of what look like Australopitheci, which would have been impossible since they died out ages and ages before modern man. May as well have dinosaurs in it at this rate.

I'd love to see a really well-done drama about early modern man that attempts to stick to the scientific knowledge. We never really identify with anyone from prehistory and I think a movie or show that makes us do that would be great.

Anyway, I'd give it 2 1/2 stars out of 5.
the sex scenes were funny, ray don chong I think? I watched it because I took archaeology in university and was/am hugely fascinated by early man.

BUT - it's not a very good movie. what I got from it is that the main group were Neaderthals and they sort of mingle with homo sapiens sapiens... It's been a LONG time though.

I agree there is a total lack of anything out there like it though and would be cool, but I think language has to enter it at some point - doesn't have ot be a lot, like look at apocolypto - I liked that and not a lot but I think you need SOME and at that point to you try an invent a proto-language? it's a tough call (and we don't know everything)

IGN gave The Tomorrow War a 3.

I mean come on. I know IGN mostly sucks nowadays, but a 3? I'd say at least a 6 would have been fair if they didn't like it. I would personally say 7-8, since I gave it a 4/5.

I guess now if a movie isn't some kind of woke social commentary with a deep plot it gets **** on.

"IGN" is just one author. Another author may have given it an 8.

I think they shouldn't just elect one representative of a larger company to give a rating for that entire company, though. They should have a bunch of people vote on it, give it an average or something, bullet point the highs and lows, and have an author kind of spell out more verbiage in a review.

IMDb I often use for seeing that others think. Sometimes it's a good judge, other times they seem way off (more times I feel like a movie might get underrated vs overrated on that site)
