    I watched Soul.

Not some huge movie feel like an Incredibles or Toy Story or any of that, but this movie was deep, especially the ending.

It might be a "kids movie", but it really feels like the movie better understood by an older audience.

People can say what they want about "kids movies", but every now and then you need those feel good movies/stories with happy endings.
I much prefer a movie with a happy ending, as opposed to a movie like Reservoir Dogs or No Country For Old Men, or the new Old movie.
BTW, someone ought tell M Knight not every movie has to twist. I feel like if he had directed one of the new Star Wars movies, the ending would have been Capt. Kirk awakening from a dream

I started watching the Hobbit movies for the first time. I never really was a huge LotR fan. Matter of fact, the last time I put one of the movies on was to help me take a nap.

But halfway through The Desolation of Smaug, and I'm freakin' hooked.

        It was a good trilogy.

LotR (extended versions of course) was a masterpiece.

A movie, a TV show, a book, a painting, a sculpture being good quality vs. poor quality isn't "factually" so. It's not "provable" that artwork is good. It's subjective -- a matter of preference and one's taste and therefore not subject to be a "fact". But then again, discerning facts these days is getting harder and harder for some people.

The Critical Drinker, if you had looked at my suggestions, doesn't "hate everything" as you suggest, and, in fact, is interested in Hollywood returning to the days of better quality writing, directing and acting instead of being agenda pushing. And he has nothing against the heroine. He applauds the heroine as long as the story is about a quality story, not an agenda.

So if you won't look at any of his other videos, perhaps this parody, of sorts, about Black Widow captures this inane story writing trend. Personally I couldn't stomach much of it. Oh, and surprise, surprise, surprise ---

Do you not think "agendas" have existed in Hollywood before now?

I have no idea what the controversy is about specifically, but I have seen it suggested in the past here or other threads that a movie is "factually" good which does not fit any definition of the word in the context of art.

                Under Siege

I don't know what it is. I know that Steven Seagal is a terrible actor, and I know his movies are always bad. Sometimes I just like going back and rewatching them though. Guilty pleasure I guess. It didn't hurt that Tommy Lee Jones was in this one.

Girl on the Third Floor is a slow build up until the end. Also I like CM Punk and all that....but he's not a very good actor at all. It's also funny seeing his character "drink" and "smoke weed" even though IRL he does neither.

Speed was on sale for $5, so I bought it and watched it last night. First time I've seen it in years.

Never mind the absurd premise; still a fun, dumb action flick. Well worth the five bucks.

Anybody see Snake Eyes? Was hoping it would be to the G.I. Joe franchise what Bumblebee was to the Transformers franchise. But reviews I've seen have not been kind.
