I've been on a "films, not movies" kick lately. Lots of Scorsese and Kubrick. Watched 2001: A Space Odyssey for the second time. I think I watched it on a laptop in college and the greatness of it didn't hit me then. I can't imagine seeing that on a theater screen in 1968.

Then I watched Dr. Strangelove; had no idea how funny it would be.

Next is Barry Lyndon, which I've also seen before, but probably on a laptop years ago. I used to be a camera nerd, and recently learned Kubrick was able to score some f/0.7 aperture lenses that were originally made for NASA. He used them to shoot some scenes by candlelight, which wouldn't have otherwise been possible by the standard lenses of the day. f/0.7 is basically unheard of. His focus puller must've needed a nice vacation after filming.

Big fan of period pieces and I love Barry Lyndon. Beautifully shot movie.

I don't know how they thought they could do it justice when the original still holds up as being truly disturbing and ****ed up. It's hard to match horror from that period of time. The Omen is another classic example.

Lets see how old some of you guys are, I introduced my Wife to this movie the other night and to my surprise she loved it...lol

When this movie came out I was hooked, as being a musician the soundtrack was simply amazing and to this day still is.

I'm going back to the year 1986, and the movie is Trick or Treat.

        Starring
Gene Simmons, with a cameo by Ozzy Osbourne and lets not forget Marc Price (Skippy from Family Ties) and last but certainly not least the late Tony Fields (RIP) as Sammi Curr

The soundtrack featured Fastway which was absolutely awesome...RIP to founders "Fast" Eddie Clarke and shortly after bassist Pete Way

The Godzilla in this one was so menacing, and it was just a really good story overall.

Yep, Toho took Godzilla back to his dark, somber roots, even used his original roar. Can't wait to see it!

Funny the title of the thread says "What Movies Have you Seen Lately"

                  Not "Give a detailed review"

That being said, I can't wait to watch this movie and several other movies out right now. Since the summer I haven't really been able to make many trips to the theaters, and when I have they've been disappointments (e.g. The Exorcist: Believer).

Yeah the new Exorcist movie was a huge letdown!

I will give this nugget about Godzilla Minus One.

Top 3 Godzilla film of all time. Easily.

Toho knocked it outta the park.

Recently I read someone list the 1998 Godzilla as "Matthew Broderick's Godzilla" and it made me laugh a lot for some reason. Like now I want that on the actual title card. Along with "Bram Stoker's Dracula" and "Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window."

Last night I enjoyed episode 2 of SPY×FAMILY. This is a great Japanese anime series, which I am especially passionate about.

I'm 14 movies away from 1300. Recently watched Park Chan-wook's Joint Security Area (thumbs up) and The Art of Self-Defense with Jesse Eisenberg (thumbs down).
