    The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare

On a scale from 1-10, I would rate this movie Guy Ritchie.

Really solid movie. Good mix of action with interesting characters. It feels much shorter than its 2 hour runtime.

Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace

Just got back from the theatrical re-release of this movie. I am more convinced than ever that Jar Jar Binks was a sith lord in disguise, and that the sequel trilogy should have taken advantage of that. You can't tell me that everything that he got away with was all by pure happenstance.

Star Wars is an epic space opera franchise that has captivated audiences with its timeless tale of the battle between good and evil, set in a galaxy far, far away.

Curious, what are you pinning that up against? I know we had Kung Fu Panda 4, and I know that Inside Out 2 is upcoming. I forget what else came out though.

American Fiction (I think Netflix) is an amazing, and very intelligent, comedy about race in America. Totally has a mind blowing ending too.

I know a lot of you cats out there enjoy some intelligent Hollywood every so often so give it a whirl, it's not often they put out movies like this.

The acting in this is so darned good too, the lead guy is amazing and one of the best actors around in my book, some of you may know him from Boardwalk Empire

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

^ I forget if I wrote impressions for the film. I liked its writing, acting was on point (though I ain't handing out awards for it)... but it didn't all come together for me among the best of the year (just above Maestro at the bottom of the Best Picture nominees in my book). The ending was definitely noteworthy and took a chance, and I appreciate it for that. Ultimately I didn't feel the characters had enough to do outside of being characters, if that makes sense. "You're the person known for doing this," rather than elements of driving the story itself (given that there were a couple of B-plots, that's mostly all that they served).

One big negative for me though was the score. It did not fit the film at all, in my opinion. Big negative points for that, and should not have been nominated in that department.

Thanks for weighing in man. You do make some good points, in regards to the characters probably. I didn't even notice the score, I typically do not though as I'm hearing impaired.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

                        This is a great thread!

Quick backdrop, I love new movies/shows of course, and I watch the ones I like over and over again lol.

                        Here goes:

                        1. Hit the cinema and watched the new Planet of the Apes recently. Simply amazing, a classic.

                        2. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire - Purchased this off of Xbox streaming to add to my collection. Another classic!

                        3. I'm a Quentin Tarantino fiend. I've had Django Unchained and Hateful Eight on repeat for the last month. Literally, every single day after I come home from work, it's basically my background noise (Wife and daughter are out of town for three months). Kill Bill series would be in rotation as well if it was as easily accessible as these. Kill Bill series I have on DVD and they're tucked away while Django and Hateful Eight are digital and going with the press of a button!

                        4. Killers of the Flower Moon (is that the name?)- That was a very good movie. Have it in my collection and it will surely rotate when I go on my DiCaprio marathon.

                        5. Revenant - Been watching that one a lot lately. Classic joint I must say!

                        6. Wolf of WallStreet was a solid one as well. Watched that a few times recently

                        7. BattleShip was pretty good. I loved the alien ship designs as well as the aliens themselves.

                        8. Overlord - Nazis and zombies, say less!

I've watched all of these recently. A few more that I've looked at within the past week or so: Star Wars a New Hope, Terminator Dark Fate, GoodFellas, Jurassic Park III, Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Mans Chest (Davy Jones is my GUY!! lol) and so many other random movies that I will not name. Life is grand!

I won't quite go 10/10, but this movie was highly enjoyable. Nice humor and very wholesome. Definitely recommend it.

Saw Inside Out 2 on Sunday.

It might end up being my favorite Pixar movie. The portrayal of anxiety and how it can take over, reshape your identity and beliefs... incredible work. My 7 year old liked it, but this will hit more for teens/adults

Camp Pleasant Lake on Starz has got to be the worst acted horror movie ever made. The entire thing is just so awful you can't stop watching.

And it's got some recognizable B-listers in it too........just awful, I can't recommend enough
