Do you think Hollyweird gave it the Oscar to show how "inclusive" they are?

The acting was very good and the contrast between the have and have-nots was wonderfully illustrated. This was a worthy nominee it just didn't hit all the notes for me.

I personally thought Parasite deserved it. I saw all the movies except for little women and 1917 was the favorite to win. I did like 1917 but to me the whole one shot thing felt like a gimmick, it wasn’t a deep movie but it was cool and I assume very difficult but if it was shot traditionally it doesn’t stack up to other great world war movies.

It was a great cinematic experience though but to me it was towards the bottom of the list.

Parasite was beautifully shot and the tension was very strong throughout the movie. It was clever and well acted as well.

No, although when the director also writes the film, I do wonder where I should give credit when it comes to a lot of the thematic/symbolic things that are included. I guess the Academy said: "Shoot, just credit him twice." There's one montage in the film that I know everybody who has seen the movie loves, but at that point I question whether that was more director or editor, haha.

Speaking of themes/symbols and such, this is why I think people overrate Jordan Peele as a filmmaker. Parasite is how you do it subliminally and not so on-the-nose.

Birds of Prey

So stupid, but the movie knew what it was doing and executed that fine. Pacing issues were all over the place; at least they saved a lot by the end and it was nothing but fun for the final 30 or so minutes. A lot of people will be put off by Black Mask, but I actually enjoyed the character they made out of him and laughed from him the most of anybody. Zsasz on the other hand was eh. Loved Mary Elizabeth Winstead, I haven't seen her in a minute. No action was too brutal and the R-rating was exercised somewhat mildly all told (at least compared to what I expected), but the fact that they had it meant they could do what they did, when they did.

I can't exactly say that I recommend this movie, but if you want to see more Margot Robbie then I won't hold you back. I almost wish I checked out Sonic instead, though. That'll be next. It just shows that February is kind of a slow movie month when these are the movies I'm deciding to see on a Saturday night.

Yeah I didn’t like Birds Of Prey either. The action was good though and I was told it was some of the same guys who did John Wick.

Probably the worst DC movie that has come out in the last decade

"Judy" and "Knives Out". Good performance by Rene. I guess Oscar worthy. You can tell she put a lot of study into it.

Knives Out was great. I'm not sure how people here are saying they guessed the outcome. Great ensemble cast and plot.

Just watched Hitch again (it's on Hulu and IMDB). Still holds up imo. It's like we get a little bit more Doug Heffernan outside of KOQ if he was single. Thought the chemistry between him and Will Smith was pretty good.

Yeah they have plans to make a series of movies now with of course Craig being the detective. The cast seemed to have a blast making this movie so I hope we get more from other actors in Hollywood.

I had no idea Oldboy was a triology, the first is a classic. Train to Busan is a great zombie too.

I’ll have to check out more Korean Cinema. I’ll check out The Handmaiden next

Feel I should give you the same warning I got if you’re unfamiliar with the movie: wiki lists it as an erotic thriller. Really there’s 1 extended, explicit scene. Just a warning, it’s not a family film lol. The movie is incredible though, I rarely feel like I’ve gotten the ride out of a movie that this and Parasite have given, unpredictable in the best way.
