Death at a Funeral (original, British version) is a hoot. Great cast and premise, plus I love British humor, but it's not dripping with it. Must watch comedy!

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Fun fact: that’s Elvis grand daughter.
Loved Logan Lucky, who would of thought to put Kylo Ren, James Bond and Magic Mike in a redneck heist movie...geniusComment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Watched Kingpin again after many years. Held up really well..... Murray plays an ******* so well! But here's the thing I really came away with... as far as acting dumb and stupid and how the role was written, and this would be an unpopular opinion, Randy Quaid's "Ish" outdoes Jeff Daniel's "Harry" character from Dumb & Dumber.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Rewatched Steve McQueen's Bullitt, 1968. I watched it two years ago, and really liked it, but this time not as much. It does have one of the best chase scenes ever filmed, but everything else is kind of slow (pun intended)I guess that 60s dynamic in filming is really different from what we have today. Hey, it was 50 years ago. It does have a nice twist at the ending, though.
Then Leigh Whannell's Invisible Man, I really liked his movie Upgrade a couple of years ago and he did use some of the same camera movement here. He also did a good job with that horror / gender abuse duality. And Elisabeth Moss is my celebrity pass, so...
And then, since I was kind of bummed out and bored, The Big Lebowski. I lost count of how many times I watched this one, Bridges is always great, every word that comes out of John Goodman's mouth makes me laugh uncontrollably, and I also love that glorious era when Buscemi was always the pun of the jokes...#AllRed | Club Atlético Independiente

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I remember when I first watched Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in theaters, I thought it was about a 4... maybe a 5, at best.
However, since that Ultimate Edition came out, and upon rewatching it tonight... easy 7, maybe 7.5. What kills it is the act with Doomsday.
I wish Zack Snyder was able to complete his JL 5-film arc and vision. It's a shame we'll never get to see it.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Ok -- Contagion. It blew my mind, not because it is an amazing movie, but because of the incredible coincidences with what we are living today. Then I watched The Pelican Brief, if you watched All The President's Men or The Parallax View (all three directed by Pakula) or Three Days of the Condor, you aren't missing much.
About Time -- a movie my girlfriend made me watch and I was really surprised, it has a strange premise but I think the film executes it pretty well and Gleeson and McAdams have wonderful chemistry together. Couldn't help but notice, as an Spider-Man fan, that McAdams' character's name is Mary and Gleeson's aunt in the movie is May...
Days of Thunder -- having recently watched The Color of Money and remembering Top Gun, this is another perfect example that the Cruise formula back then would never stop. He has great chemistry with Kidman here (they met in the set and then were married, as we all know) and Duvall is a gentleman.
Finally watched AVP, it's almost a remix of The Thing, but I loved how both franchises merged here. It's an entertaining movie and not much more than that, everyone in the cast is a total unknown. I think it was best if the whole thing ended here, right? Then Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind -- the Hayao Miyazaki movie that prompted the creation of Studio Ghibli. It was 1984 and the animation was already beautiful, and the character as well.
Last night, The Way Back, Affleck's latest. It won't take risks as it follows almost every sport movie's path, but Ben is totally marvellous here, and probably took as a base what happened to himself, going to rehab and all that mess.#AllRed | Club Atlético Independiente

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Wonder Park
Didn't know I could ever love and hate a movie at the same time so much as I did this one, and there was only about 75 minutes of actual run time to boot.
This movie started off so strong, and fizzled oh so quickly. It's kind of like this movie had the characters and situations to tell a bunch of different stories if they wanted to, and they chose the most blundering one to tell. Voice acting was pretty lousy as well. What's worse, I'm a 31-year-old who didn't really understand all of it. I know what they were saying, but I just don't get what they were doing. It's hard to explain unless they see it. Kind of strange that you never hear "Wonder Park" in itself; it was always "Wonderland."
All that being said, it was kind of short enough that I kind of want to re-watch it in 3D though.Last edited by Blzer; 04-15-2020, 02:13 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
