I thought Central Intelligence was fun and had a good heart, and Dwayne and Hart were pretty funny together.

I saw that with my wife the other night. Absolutely loved Jake Johnson's character in it.

Quick little recap of a few movies that I remember watching recently:

Rampage - Worked for what it was. The Rock, big CGI animals, destruction. Actually laughed out loud a few times, too.

Set It Up - Netflix romcom. Good enough that I don't regret watching it. It's a romcom, so predictability and cheese are plentiful.

Blockers - I laughed a bit. Cena was awesome.

Well, I haven't seen it yet, but I'm supposed to see Sicario: Day of the Soldado tomorrow (pre-screening).

The problem is tomorrow is my birthday, and my grandpa (and his... Carol) are in town on their last night here. There is no way I'm going to be able to go see it.

Slightly off topic but.. AMC is rolling out their movie sibscripton service. $20/mo for 3 movies a week..
3D and IMAX included, can order tix in advance , multiple viewings of same movie.

Might be good option for some people.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Recently saw Central Intelligence. Thought it was gonna be another Dwayne Johnson action movie with fight scenes, car chases, explosions, and so on. I saw it didn't get highest of rating either. Had wanted to see it for almost 2 years now, but didn't think I'd like it much.

First several minutes to start wasn't that great, even last scene too I didn't care much for. But movie itself was good. Lots of comedic moments in the movie, and a storyline with twists throughout, making you doubt the truth. The Rock and Kevin Hart play so well off each other. Fair amount of nsfw language in the movie, but unlike many movies that I feel have swearing for sake of swearing (planet of the apes being one where the whole movie is borderline pg13, then random f bomb in middle of a scene for no reason, the only swearing in the whole thing), in this movie it made moments funnier, especially Kevin Hart overreacting to things. For Flash fans, "D.A. Cecile Horton" is one of the main supporting characters.

I said it about Jumanji too, Dwayne Johnson is at his best when in comedic parts. Sure it's easy to make some 6'6 275lb guy the big action hero, but I like his comedic roles way better.

And the ending credit moment showing both of them in real life on snapchat (or Instagram?) recording separate live videos unintentionally together was funniest part of the movie to me, in a good way.

Funny video, but absolute nsfw language:

Saw The Last Castle for the first time. Former general now prisoner Robert Redford attempts to take over the prison from "warden" Colonel Winter (Gandolfini) because of Winter's "unfitness of being an officer". So implausible at many levels including Redford's character practically imposing the ten-year sentence on himself and refusing the help of another esteemed general to be released immediately on a medical discharge. Then there's the risking of military personnel at the prison's lives by a now defacto general (Redford) as his merry band of military prisoners take over.

Gandolfini started on the movie immediately after the shooting of season three of The Sopranos and the film debuted a few months after that season three aired. Despite the star power, the film was one of the biggest bombs of 2001.

So about 12 movies for the month for only $20? How are they not losing money on this?

They're probably trying to make the competition (MoviePass, Sinemia) lose out, and when they're gone they'll jack it right back up.

I don't know why they would have a problem with them, though. MoviePass and Sinemia pays them for every ticket purchased.

Co-sign. Theaters get full price for every ticket. AMC does not allow you to get reward points with Movie Pass, which is why 99% of the time I go to Regal.

                          The Incredibles 2

Loved it, best super hero movie this year for me. The creativity of how they use the powers is top notch.

Elastigirl is such a badass, I’ll have to watch it again just to catch all the moves she does.

So much to love about the movie. My only gripe was my boy Dash didn’t get to shine as much as he did in the first movie but pretty much everyone else had great moments.

Saw Hereditary with the wife.. Really enjoyed this. Made by A24 studios. Same studio that put out The Witch, It comes at Night, and I believe The Invitation.

If you like the movies I just mentioned, I encourage a watch.

                              Ocean's 8

Kinda meh. It pretty much copied the same beats as the first Soderbergh Ocean's movie but not as fun, maybe because the chemistry wasn't there as much as the 2000's Ocean's crew. Don't get me wrong the actresses were good, and damn Sandra Bullock is gorgeous in this film, hard to believe she's 53. If they do this again they would have to mix the two crews.

Watched The Post with Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep.

Very good movie, I enjoyed it...it was centered more around the Washington Post than about the breakthrough surrounding the Pentagon Papers than I figured it would be but that's not to say it was a bad thing.

Perhaps the Post's handling of the Watergate scandal deserves its own movie but the ending didn't seem as climatic as I expected since every paper ended up reporting on the Pentagon Papers and they weren't the first newspaper to break the story either.

Streep did a TERRIFIC job selling how difficult of a job Katherine Graham had in being a woman CEO (first in history for a fortune 500). The hesitation in her actions, her words, her decision making...it was a great performance.

                                I really enjoyed this movie.

@SPTO -> Have you seen All The President's Men? I presume you like old movies like that (70s movie)...after watching this movie, I'd like to watch a non-fiction movie about Watergate now.
