Re: What movies have you seen recently?
The last two movies are really a Part 1 and Part 2, like a 4.5 hour movie that is split right down the middle. Kind of made for a cool epic that way.
By the way man, if you watch them make sure you follow the "subs not dubs" motto! I had two options on Vudu, and the default one is with subtitles.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

For sure, they were definitely great watches.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Wife and I saw 2 pretty good horror movies last night..
This is on demand. Gives of Hereditary/Babadook vibes. I won't say too much more.
This is a Shudder Original movie. BTW, if you love horror, subscribe to Shudder. It's an amazing channel with great horror movies and shows. It's originals are really good IE: Creepshow and Dead Lands.
This totally caught us off guard. Couple goes to beach house for weekend getaway. Then things start getting real interesting.
Let me know what you think, once you've watched them

Da 5 Bloods
I feel like the whole is much better than the parts. The beginning feels a little uneven, but once they get to Vietnam the movie settles down and into its own. By the end it truly becomes something fantastic as its an emotional ride through personal and world history. It can be a bit overhanded or heavy at times, but I think it's needed for those a bit more thickheaded. An interesting perspective on war, the ties it binds us with, and the emotional baggage it burdens you with for the rest of your life.
Airplane
Still hilarious. So many different gags and skits. Nun's life always gets me.

Spoilernot gonna lie when the first guy gets blown up on a land mine it scared the **** out of me. I didn’t know what to expect from the movie, it actually felt kinda like a documentary of a reunion at first until I recognized the actors. Once that land mine hits it ALL hits the fan. HaNHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

I kept waiting for it. Honestly, I was waiting for something to happen as soon as they got out there.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Molly's Game
Aaron Sorkin once again shows that he is a brilliant writer, even though no one actually speaks like he writes them it still makes even potentially mundane material incredibly engaging. This was no exception. I think this was also his directorial debut, and he definitely wasn't a slouch. Actors brought out more in the film than his directing did, but I think he has picked up a bit from somebody like David Fincher and used that to craft out its pace.
There are a lot of poker players that are integrated in and out of the film, so in case you're trying to get fully invested, I would say it's really best to just focus on Molly (Jessica Chastain), her dad (Kevin Costner), and her attorney (Idris Elba). As it is a true story, the source material whimpers out only slightly by the end, but the 141-minute run time didn't seem to overstay its welcome, and like I said I can mostly give kudos to Aaron Sorkin for that.
I didn't know the true story existed before this movie had come out, but as the movie can undercomplicate the particulars, there is way too much to absorb to make sense of everything if you wanted to. I'm sure the book would flesh all of this out, and although I'm not much of a reader, if I am to read another book next, this would certainly be it.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Don't want to start a new thread... And these aren't technically "movies"... And they're not Netflix or the like...
But two shows I'm enjoying:
- Perry Mason (HBO) - I've watched all five episodes, and this latest one now turns the corner into the second half of the series. It's not the old Perry Mason of years ago, but I'm really like it.
- The Alienist (TNT) - season two just began the other Sunday night, and I'm really liking the direction it's going. I recently binge-watched season 1 (I had started it when it came out but life complexities didn't allow me to stay with it). If you've read the Caleb Carr novels (this one is "Angel of Darkness") you'd enjoy these in series format.STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I watched the old b&w Perry Mason's as a kid. Super excited for Matthew Rhys in that role and to see how it is.
