The Union with Halle Berry and Marky Mark.

    6/10.

Decent action, comedy misses almost every time besides one line made me laugh pretty hard.

Fine movie for a weekend where you want a semi-action, semi-romance flick. Wife thought it was a 3/5.

The Union might as well been called Mile 22 part 2. Very similar. Hell some of the same people in both movies. Only difference is the romantic comedy angle The Union had sprinkled within the action, where as Mile 22 was pure action.

            Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

What can I say other than the juice is loose.

Fun movie. Relatively short runtime and it felt even shorter.

Overall I think they did justice to the franchise

Movie follows a family of bigfoot( feet?) for a year in the forest.

                Transformers One

I HATED the trailer. Made it look like a silly Transformer movie with all the dumb jokes.

Boy was that a bad decision because this movie is awesome. Probably recentcy bias but this is my favorite Transformers movie ever.

I dunno why they would give a September release but this was by far my favorite animated movie this year and I would say up there and maybe enjoyed it more than Deadpool & Wolverine.

The animation and action were great. They really went creative on the fight scenes. Voice actors were also good and it was funny.

The character development was a big plus here. I thought every characters decision made sense and why it became to what we know the Transformers lore is today.

I might be overhyping it now but haven’t been excited to see a movie again in a long time and I’ll be seeing it again this weekend. This is coming from an OG fan from the 80s.

                            Long Legs - 9 out of 10.

Twisters - 8 out of 10. Really not a fan of remakes, but this one was good.

Beetlejuice - 8 out of 10. Kept to the same theme as the 1st one.

                              Joker: Folie à Deux

I wasn't embracing the idea of a sequel to the first film, until I heard they were going to subvert everything and go the musical route. I started to think that that would be the only way a film like this could work, living in Arthur's head in some sort of musical fantasy.

Unfortunately, the film itself doesn't buy into the musical elements very much, and any time somebody starts singing then any momentum the film was building in a given scene is suddenly halted. I'd like to see a version of this where several of the musical elements are cut (some that are in there are fine but also couldn't be cut either) to get the film closer to the two-hour mark, and see if there is anything else eventful in the film to merit its existence.

Sadly, even though I didn't hate the film, I just didn't find much to it either. It's a long epilogue of the first film's events and has very little to say as an overall. It was well-shot and well-acted, but that's not enough to recommend it for or buy it on home video later. This one shouldn't have been made, and it especially shouldn't have been made for its budget.

                              Smile 2

Take everything I said about Joker's sequel, and flip it on its head. This was $28 million well spent, and you see every dollar on screen.

Now, I found the first film to have an incredibly eerie undertone that I believe I described as "if The Ring didn't exist, this would be a horror movie that would've stuck with me in my childhood for a long time." I don't think Smile 2 quite provides that same level of eeriness, but that is an intangible effect that I can only speak on feeling and not on witness.

That being said, if you can look past the overall dilemma being very copy-paste without exploring too much of the mystery of it all, everything else about this film surpasses the original, starting with the acting and directing. Naomi Scott absolutely kills it in the lead role. I will watch this movie again for her in a heartbeat. She completely sells the fear, trauma, and overwhelm she exudes with each passing scene, and her supporting cast holds up so much better than the first film.

Parker Finn has also maintained his directing style from his predecessor but refined it so much, from great one-shot takes to significantly more effective jump scares. I thought one of the problems with Smile was that it would've served better without any jump scares, but I just now realize they were simply ineffective, out of place, or derivative. This one had some great ones, and seeing the trailer afterward I'm glad to say they aren't in the main trailer (sadly, some are in the final trailer that just released a couple of days ago). There is one super creative sequence that ironically had me smiling throughout, and is definitely my favorite scene in the film.

As I was watching the movie, I was thinking about a way that they could've ended it, and they did end it that way that I was thinking about. It seems like the appropriate route given the story at hand, but I do question if they have an idea for Smile 3 (or Smil3, of course) afterward as a result. Should it come out, I will be there day one. This one will be added to the shelf next to the first film.
