Normally I would agree with you, but given that this is Pixar and we have seen other examples of success with, say, J.J. Abrams and Mission: Impossible III, I can say that I have faith in them.

I just hope they don't go for too much childish humor.

I bought a Woody doll for my nephew when he was 2 years old. 10 years later dude still has it and still has Woody's hat. He told me the other day. I am never going to get rid of it. Me and him are excited.

Yah, just the fact that this is the Toy Story universe with all the old characters, etc, makes this an instant watch for me. They would have to work way harder for me NOT to liike it that for me TO like it honestly.

        Can't wait.

And Pixar's company line has always been to tell a good story rather than bank on a guaranteed revenue maker.

They wouldn't make Toy Story 3 unless they knew they had a great story to tell. And considering their success with every film, it's difficult to argue against that.

Just read an old interview about Wall-E and one question asked of the writer was about a Finding Nemo sequel. He said they won't make one unless there is a good story and as of now, they haven't heard a good one.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Yeah. It just shows you if you actually try at a movie instead of just making it for money. You will be successful.

It shows a great deal of patience and respect for the craft. Pixar could conceivably make any kind of Finding Nemo story and easily bank $500 MM worldwide. The first movie made over $800 MM, so half a billion is definitely not out of the question.

But, they won't because they know that by telling a good story, people will give them a chance to watch the next good story.

It's what convinced them to make Cars, Ratatouille and what gave them the confidence to push a story about a character that doesn't speak a word of dialogue (besides the name "Eve") in WALL-E. When fans respect your work, they'll give anything a try. There is nothing Pixar can put on film that will make me say, "Really?"

I know they put off Toy Story 3 for a very long time because they didn't have the right story. Disney almost butchered the franchise too during the back and forth heated discussions with Pixar. At least both came to an agreement and Disney was smart enough to let Pixar do what they do best: make their own stories and have all creative control of their own content.

I'm really looking forward to this film. I wonder if it could possibly break the billion mark for Pixar.

Something tells me it will. I don't see any other movie (maybe not even Iron Man 2 and Inception combined) topping TS3's box office numbers in 2010.

                  Re: Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3

Toy Story 1 and 2 are two of my favorite movies of all time. I love everything about the films and greatly anticipate their Blu-ray releases. My son is already addicted to everything Buzz Lightyear at this point as well. I am so hooked into seeing Toy Story 3, that my wife and I are already planning how we're going to take my son to see it.

There is no way the movie will be bad IMO, Pixar is a group of geniuses with their films. It'll make a TON of money, and probably be one of the funniest, most entertaining movies of the year, just as Up was last year.

I SWEAR there is a thread for this somewhere already, but I couldn't find it, lol. Anyway, saw it yesterday... LOVED it. Just as good as the first two, and a great way to close out the trilogy. I recommend that any of you fans out there go see this immediately.

Yeh, my family went to see it tonight. I like movies that have a happy ending but at the time aren't predicable in how they get to it.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

I was 12 when the first Toy Story came out. I think I am in the minority amongst kids my age when this movie came out but I never liked any of the Toy Story movies. I guess I was so used to watching and preferred the 2D Disney animations during those days.

I never really was a fan of computer animations untill Shrek came out. Don't plan on seeing this anytime soon.
