If that price is accurate there is no way NBC puts him on the air tomorrow or ever again.

well he probably rented the bugatti, but the rolling stones song is what was really expensive. NBC cut it out of the hulu version of the show.

He should show it again tonight as a classic tonight show moment..

Not having that bit in the hulu version probably brings the total of the skit well below 1.5 million, as internet re-airing fees has to be the most expensive part of using that song. NBC continues to show what complete bitches they are. Glad I was able to see this little tidbit of TV history live.

well the show isn't live, so they could have kept anything they didn't like from airing the whole time. They aren't being as evil as they could be.

It even turns out that the song wasn't that expensive..but NBC would have to get additional rights to put the segment on hulu.

New York-based entertainment lawyer Steve Gordon says that existing agreements between NBC and music licensing companies would allow the "Tonight Show" to play "Satisfaction" at no additional cost for a live or time-delayed performance.

If the show were to be rerun, he said, NBC might have to pay $25,000 to $50,000 for the song's use to its owner, Abkco, which owns much of the Stones' early work. If a clip of the song were used on the Internet, he said, a similar or greater fee could apply, assuming Abkco allowed permission for its use.

Even if "The Tonight Show" had to pay for a Bugatti, the price for its temporary use could be in the five-figure range. Luxury car rental service Beverly Hills Rent-a-Car, for instance, charges $25,000 per day for the rental of a Bugatti Veyron.

So, Friday will be the last time I watch The Tonight Show for the forseeable future.

I'll be shifting to a schedule of Stewart/Colbert/ESPNEWS/Ferguson for my late night needs.

Can't wait for Conan to come back in September. Should be awesome.
