And the straw that broke the camel's back was his feud with Chevy and his reaction to Chevy refusing to film a scene.
I was under the impression that the writers all loved Harmon, and started leaving because he was fired.

And Chevy Chase is a notorious dick. The problems they had with him are no surprise.

Writers were definitely leaving before Harmon did.
According to multiple people familiar with the production of Community, Harmon's flaws as a showrunner were at least partially responsible for much of the turnover the past few years. As one person familiar with Harmon's strengths and weaknesses told Vulture, "Dan is a brilliant at ideas, but he's terrible at [management]."

Yep, basically he's a very creative and talented d-bag.

I guess if you're going to be a d-bag...it's best to be a talented one.

dunno if harmon is solely responsible but I would take any of the first 3 seasons over this one.

Yeah, I thought this was the weakest season of the 4 by far. There were some standout moments and some decent episodes, but nothing approaching the level of Remedial Chaos Theory and the like.

Harmon said Sony wants him to do a DVD commentary for season 4.

Which sounds like the meanest thing they could ever do to the people who worked hard on that season, but hell if I wouldn't love to hear it.

I hope he's smart enough to see the inherent danger in this and take evasive action...but yeah, that'd be amazing to listen to.

Any chance he could just re edit a episode? I would be interested to see if his pacing could have improved JUST the shows writing last season.

And him doing commentaries? An *** move by an ***. Show was better without him.

I don't see how people can actually admit the show was better without him. Sure, there were some good ones last season, but they about lost me after the first month or two. They finally turned it around. Difficult to say after just a few good ones that they are better off without him.

Sony asked him to do it.

Interesting...I was the exact other way. I was just about done with it then Harmon came back.

I understand personal tastes figure into what one likes or doesn't but your stance seems a bit odd.

Are you saying you hated the first 3 seasons of the show but stuck around hoping Harmon would be fired/leave and the show would be more like this season or did you just start watching this season when you heard Harmon was gone?

As the season went on, I felt like they proved Community could still be good without him. This just feels like a move to please some of the people making a fool out of themselves after his departure.

This whole thing just rubs me wrong. I miss being a naive kid sometimes and not knowing what was going on behind the scenes with writers and staff of a show.
