Since it eventually did blow, how is this different then the Black Rock when nothing happened because Jack was destined to live? So he would have died here, but not at the Black Rock?

I think Jack is a different case than everyone else. Jack knows he is "the guy" and that the Island won't let him die.

But also, didn't Jack say that MIB can't kill them, but they can kill each other? Once Sawyer pulled the wires it became fair game, I think.

I also found it odd had Jack is buying into the beliefs of the island now... and he quotes Locke?

Just to re-direct discussion for a second... what happens in the alternate timeline now? Jin/Sun have to die? I believe they were making the point that you can't escape fate, right? And we will never know who was the real candidate now b/w the two, huh?

I wasn't sad about the deaths of Sun and Jin at all. Now if there wasn't an alternate timeline where they are still alive it really would have been sad because Jin is one of my favorite characters on the show, but with there being this alternate timeline, I see an ending coming where they are still alive.

And the four characters that are left are the four who the Others captured in Season 2 and said were the only four on Jacob's list.

nice catch! I didn't notice that. I wonder if that is important or if it is a coincidence? I saw "Hurley" on G4 last night, didn't reveal anything other than he is not in next weeks episode, but I dont think any losties are.

His belief on what Locke was saying, not anyone else. I can buy into his belief about Jacob, but odd about him quoting Locke now.

He started to believe in Locke after Locke died and the whole "we have to go back" thing.

I started nit-picking also, with this not throwing the bomb thing and how everything appears to be happening suddenly, but days and nights are passing on the show in between the scenes. But then I found myself enjoying the show a lot less and so I just come up w/ my own reasoning. In this case, I just chalked it up to him knowing the bomb was going to explode very soon and so instead of trying to save him self, he just wanted to get the bomb as far away from the others as he could. By running with it instead of throwing it with time left, he bought the others a couple extra feet between them and the bomb.

I actually thought it was very powerful to see television's most prominent Iraqi character be the opposite of a suicide bomber to save his friends. I don't know if it was intentional or not.

By all means go ahead, its just a culmination of everywhere i go that has a Lost discussion, it turns into what this thread has been recently (outside of the obsessives on 4chan and the live thread, but those threads are absurdly funny to me.). I guess i've just seen enough criticism for now more than anything.
