I hated this episode. I'll re-watch it tomorrow and hopefully that opinion changes, but after the first viewing I am so disappointed. I've enjoyed all of this season's episodes, except for the early Kate one, but this one just seemed like such a weak episode.

I just re-watched it and liked it more the second time around.

Was the Crazy Mom a smoke monster herself? If not, how was she able to wipe out the village? What is her back story?

If Jacob's new role was to protect the Island like the Crazy Mom, why did he leave the Island unguarded to "touch" the candidates off the Island?

Why was MiB able to see his real Mother but Jacob couldn't?

It's just like the mom said, My answers to one question only leads to more questions. Pretty much the M.O of lost.

I've been really happy with this season. I'm done onveranaylzing and nit picking, and just sort of along for the ride. The last thing I want to do is ruin one of my favorite shows of all time by going nuts like some of the people over at Lost Pedia.

With a show like lost there are going to be things that disapoint people, but I just try to focus and think about the things in lost that connect and make sense to me. Look, you may not like the way they are answering our questions, or the answers themselves, but thats just personal preference to how the writers/producers are telling their story.

My initial reaction is disappointment. I've been happy with most of S6, but this one just hasn't taken to me.

So we get answers to Jacob and the MIB history, only to be replaced with questions about their mom's origin. Answer one, ask another. Not really what I was hoping for.

We still don't know what the rules are, how their mom was able to give them the power not to kill each other, where their mother came from, why MIB had the power to see dead people, etc.. With only 1 regular episode and the finale left, I'm sure none of these will be answered. I don't expect answers to everything, but to answer some while leaving out other important ones, ples adding new questions at this point is a letdown.

I feel the same. I have LOVED this season, but not impressed with that episode at all. Got very few answers and a lot more questions, at this point in the show.

I thought tonight was actually a solid episode. Yes, it did raise a lot of questions about the mother, but now I think I understand the whole story:

when Jacob threw his brother down the cave he released "satan/devil" and the MIB we have seen from here on out has been him in different people's form. Now, why he has to have the candidates to leave the island will be interesting, but at least we understand what "the game" is.

I do wonder how they will tie all this up in 3.5 hours though...a lot of questions still out there.

Yea she did that's why she said thank you.

Also, MIb isn't dead. It explains from ab aterno what he told richard though about Jacob stealing his humanity. When he got pushed into that cave I think it separated his body from his soul.

I disagree. I think that by letting the man in black float into the "light", Jacob released what we know as the "bad" MiB and Locke. FLocke has stated that he can change his appearance but only to people are dead. Wouldn't it make sense that whatever came out of the light would want to turn into Jacob's dead brother to torment him?

I think that Jacob's brother is dead and whatever is running around is something completely new (to us).

I think MiB was dead at birth. That's why he had no name. That's why he was called "special" when he could see his dead mother and Jacob could not.

I also was disappointed with this weeks episode. At this point I want more answers than questions. Instead of unpeeling the onion, they keep adding more layers.

but did you notice the last scene with jack and kate. first he has no shirt and she has a white bra top and looks all glamorous.

but when flocke shows up there all scruffy with their lostwear shirts on.

But his real mother (the MILF) saw him when he was born. He could interact with all other living people. I don't know, just doesn't seem to add up.

The end confused me. Mother and MIB were both laid to rest, so that means that the smoke monster is its own entity and not the MIB? It can just appear as the MIB if it wants to because the MIB died on the Island?

My interpretation is that when MIB was placed in the light-hole, he basically died with only the worst parts of him left over.
So all that was left from MIB was his evilness.
And since Smokie can take the form of anyone who's dead on the island, he chose his original form.
So in essence, MIB is a lot like Locke is now. It's not really Locke, just like it's not really MIB.

As for the episode, I'm also a bit ticked off. I have a feeling we'll never get the answer to how Jacob has the powers he does. Or how his mother got them.
The mysteries of the island will remain a mystery.

TERRIBLE. Just terrible.

Prior to this season, I had planned to rewatch the entire series after we finally get some answers. I'm now seriously rethinking that plan because this season has, for the most part, absolutely sucked. Last night was such a huge opportunity to tell us so much, and they did so little with it. Just crushingly disappointing.

And I'm sorry Darlton, but it's actually insulting that you have to flash back to the Adam and Eve scene from season one to remind us that you had this planned all along and you're resolving one of LOST's huge mysteries. That wasn't even something we had to revisit at all! The Adam and Even skeletons were a mystery because when they were found, it was believed that there was nobody else on the island. Since that time, we've learned that there are a ton of people on the island, so that could have been anyone. Who cares? If I had to make a list of "mysteries" that I wanted resolved, that wouldn't even rank in the top 50.

Absolutely awful.
