    Re: Iron Man 2

I thought the fights (especially the last one) were way too short and uninspired, the scenes with Nick Fury WAY out of place (like they'd been a dodgy stitch in edit from another movie) and the Scarlet Johanson fight scenes and posing were comedic.

Enjoyable yeah, but to me it's followed the same path as Transformers. Surprisingly fun action movie with a disappointing sequel.

it's iron man and war machine though. They should be wrecking everyone's ****, as opponents have been guys behind the IM tech curve. The fights will obviously follow a pattern of shooting and flying around around too.

The appeal of the movies to me is how RDJ pulls off Stark, which he does great. The movie was as good as the first for me, which is all I wanted from it really. It's a prefect continuation of the first film.

For me it was too Popcorny. His alcoholism is briefly mentioned, and everything is predictable. There are no risks either, everything they did in the movie was a safe bet which got cheesy at times. And the action, the main point of the movie occurs for maybe 30 min. and I feel generous saying that.
Overall the movie is disappointing and yet that had alot to to with my high standards of the movie.

Decently good but not great, but if your looking for a mindless escape to the real world, Iron Man 2 is worth checking out.

Iron Man 1 was much better than 2. Iron Man 2 just seemed way too long, it seemed as if I had sat in the theater for like 3 hours.

Saw it yesterday afternoon and loved it. the only thing i didnt like, like the first movie, was the final villain battle. overall, it was a very good movie. i dont get while people say there was just so much going on...there really wasnt. the story moved along, albeit in a disjointed pace and definitely shouldn't be compared to SM3. i was surprised of nick furys screentime, but he was essential to the story.
I'm surprised of the backlash on this movie, but I guess it's just because Iron Man wasn't that big of a character in the marvel universe and the first movie just surprised everyone.
personally I liked ed norton's hulk better and wish they made a sequel to that.

I think Iron Man will be much better in the Avengers movie just because most people don't know who his major villains are. Everything I know about Iron Man comes from his crossover stuff(Secret Wars, The Avengers etc) but I love the character and Robert Downey is the perfect Tony Stark.

I found it to be much better than the first, i always thought the first was a bit overrated. Loved the movie and how they sort of put in his alcoholism and cockiness. The CGI was good, not superb but the overall movie was good.

Wish we saw a bit more Whiplash, Mic Rourke was amazing as always even though his role was sort of limited. I already hear that they want Mandarin in the third, it shall be interesting

The problem IMO is his best villain, Mandarin, uses alien technology rings to fight Tony's tech. A little over the top for the average viewer i think. Its a Story that works in the comics, but on screen it wouldn't come off that well. Think about it, a man of superhuman martial arts skill who can split iron man's armor with a punch or kick and has ten rings of crazy power....yeah.

I think that the first one is very overrated, as much as I like it. I'm not putting it on any sort of high pedestal, nor do I consider it to be anywhere near the likes of Batman Begins or Spider-Man when I first saw them. I thought the directing was the main problem (didn't like Bridges as Stane much either, which is strange because I like him a lot as an actor), but to each its own.

Iron Man 2 is one of those where I feel compelled to buy when it comes out on Blu-ray though, because I like it enough combined with how great the audio can be, etc. that if I don't buy it, something will feel incomplete. This isn't as difficult a decision as Avatar was for me, because the characters in the IM franchise are much deeper and more likable for me. There were just a lot of things in this movie that didn't do it for me, though... and it surprises me that many people here absolutely hate Spider-Man 3 but can absolutely love Iron Man 2 at the same time (really makes me think people just hate the "emo" factor and two dancing scenes, killing the rest of the movie).

Plus, this sequel didn't build on anything aside from Stark's relationship with Rhodes and Potts. Everything else is pretty much exactly as is, with the Avenger angle included.
