    Re: Iron Man 2

Saw it. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a solid 7.5, with a curve score of .5 which raises it to 8 (I am a big Iron Man fan). I liked this one just as much as the first. No other actor can play Tony Starks but RDJ. He is like Ed O'neal and Al Bundy (no one can be Al Bundy but him). RDJ really brings Starks to life.

The story is no where near as convoluted as Spider man 3. SM3 was all over the place and tried to mix 3 different movies into one. In IM2 the stories are reasonably mixed together where it does not overly burden the audience. The underlying theme is the Iron man suit. On the one hand you have the technology and the history of it (whiplash story) and on the other you have the future of it (Hammer, goverment, whiplash again etc...). The story concerning the Avengers was touched upon at the end of the first Iron Man movies, so it was quite consistent.

I really liked the movie, I thought it was entertaining

Think about it, a man of superhuman martial arts skill who can split iron man's armor with a punch or kick and has ten rings of crazy power....yeah.
This is exactly my thought when i read that they wanted his arch villain in the third one, hopefully they can make it pan out well enough

I saw it today. It was good, not great, but it wasn't bad. The whole movie seemed like they strung a bunch of one-liners together though.

I thought the directing was the main problem (didn't like Bridges as Stane much either, which is strange because I like him a lot as an actor), but to each its own.

Iron Man 2 is one of those where I feel compelled to buy when it comes out on Blu-ray though, because I like it enough combined with how great the audio can be, etc. that if I don't buy it, something will feel incomplete. This isn't as difficult a decision as Avatar was for me, because the characters in the IM franchise are much deeper and more likable for me. There were just a lot of things in this movie that didn't do it for me, though... and it surprises me that many people here absolutely hate Spider-Man 3 but can absolutely love Iron Man 2 at the same time (really makes me think people just hate the "emo" factor and two dancing scenes, killing the rest of the movie).

Plus, this sequel didn't build on anything aside from Stark's relationship with Rhodes and Potts. Everything else is pretty much exactly as is, with the Avenger angle included.
I'm sorry the dancing in IM2 was much better placed then SM3, SM3 had parker dancing because he had the symbiote and the whole pelvis thrust throwing air at peoples faces was just overdone. In IM2 I can totally see Stark being drunk and dancing in his suit and falling all over the place, as for the Hammer dance that was pure epic!! on top of that he just at the current time was about to make stark look pretty bad

            Stop! Hammer time.

He was in the Iron Man suit more often with his mask off (well, with his face revealed rather) than with it on. It reminded me of Venom when Whiplash pulled his back. And I don't really find the scene necessary where he almost wipes out an entire race of busty blondes in his house, and they're still okay being next to him when he's drunkenly lethal, firing rounds off glass objects being tossed up into the air. The peeing line was pretty funny though.

The fight between him and Rhodes was just bad, though. First of all, they were fighting to Daft Punk - Robot Rock, all the meanwhile completely destroying his house (I had a concern with him shooting out the glass in his basement in Iron Man 1, and this time he takes it to a completely inexcusable level).

Then a small gripe along with this one, which I've had in superhero movies since I suppose the first Spider-Man, is that I don't like how we need an entire first half of a movie for the protagonist to be able to develop and become an iconic hero over a long period of training and such, and then the villains or whomever just pop in and do their stuff like it's nothing, like they've done it for just as long. It almost downplays the awesomeness of our hero. That said, Rhodes comes in wearing one of Stark's own suits for the first time and kicks his *** in it like he invented it himself, even though Stark had to run through test after test for it. It would take him his own equipment to assemble and disassemble the suit as well, so I don't know how Rhodes did that after he left.

I didn't mind the Hammer dancing, but it was just all weird how he was bringing up the drones. Again, he seemed like a PG-rated villain. I didn't mind it, but it was a bit too "kiddy" for my taste.

However, none of this excuses why in the hell Peter Parking was doing pelvic thrusts in midtown Manhattan. When I first saw it in theaters, I was with my 13 year old sister at the time and all I could do was laugh uncomfortably, in hopes that she wouldn't ask to walk out of the theater at that point because it was completely out of place. I don't understand that scene for one second, though I still do like most of the movie besides that (it has many of its issues as well).

Just remember, I like Iron Man 2 as I like Spider-Man 3... but too many questions are posed as to why they did what, and it brought forth many issues in my opinion.

              Re: Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2 is not nearly the travesty Spiderman 3 was.

I personally liked the Rhodes/Starks fight and Starks acting like a drunken fool - it added to his character and humanized him a bit and I had hoped they had continued with his alcoholism in the second half, but they just ignored it.

Personally, I liked Hammer. He wasn't so much a villain as a fierce competitor that will now have it in for Starks. Hopefully he will return for IM3 because Sam Rockwell was awesome. This is how Spiderman should have developed the Brock and Parker relationship so that you actually believe Brock has always wanted to one-up Parker rather than just getting a five minute back history.

Seen Iron Man 2 last week. Thought the first one was better. 2 didnt have the polish that the first one had. Also, for me, too much CGI at the end and the main bad guy battle was too short.

I feel the same way. The first one was good, but for whatever reason, I liked the second just a little better.

For me, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man is as close as perfection to casting a superhero in a live movie. He's got the look and charisma to pull off Tony to the tee

Yeah I've been meaning to pick it up on blu-ray but have been waiting for Amazon to drop the price to $20 or below.

Spider-man 3 was a diaster. This was actually decent. Had some slow parts but overall I enjoyed it. They should have gave Scarlett a little Russian accent though when she was in agent form.

I get what he means by the Spiderman 3 reference, it just seems goofy and tries too hard. At the same time Spiderman 3 was **** and Iron Man 2 wasn't.

And was it just me or was Olivia's Munn's fine *** in this movie?
