It doesn't get much better in this one, but that's the nature of the beast when it comes to sequels.

was going to see it tonight but decided to buy Avatar blu-ray so wifey & i could have a night in. for those who have seen both, which is the better movie, Avatar or Iron-man 2?...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

I have more fun with Iron Man 2. Much lighter in tone, works well for a Friday night. Avatar is a good Blu-ray ride through and through though, you should buckle in for a ride.

Avatar won't require you to follow as closely, though. IM2 is pretty jumpy and wants you to hear all of the one-liners, so sometimes you confuse trying to cohere a story along with trying to get a punch line, all the meanwhile trying to stare at Scarlett's beauty without drooling on your wife.

It just depends on what kind of night you want. Both are good movies, but they tailor a certain crowd that is willing to be engaging in a certain way.

My overall feeling of the movie was that it was just "alright".

          Wasn't bad. Wasn't good.

Wouldn't really care to see it again tho.

I just felt like things were rushed and no excitement was built up in the action sequences. Everything happened so quickly. Maybe that's just me.

Movie was over rated, and not too much about it was even memorable once you walked out the theaters.

I have more fun, talking about the scenes in Kick *** and scenes from older movies.

But for some reason this movie was okay at best. It wasn't a bad film, but majority of the action sequences were all in the trailers. Nothing was surprising or even somewhat interesting. Every time something happened, the back of my mind kept saying," this is the scene from the trailer, haha"!

They definitely need to do better, I had more fun with part 1.

                Also saw it last night.
Liked the first one a lot better, but #2 was pretty good. Unlike #1 which I would have seen a dozen times in the theatre and have watched it several times on Blu-Ray, I probably won't watch this one again. Maybe when it comes on BR. But not to own.

The biggest complaint I have is how slow it moved and how little action there was.
If I can remember correctly there were two 5 minute action scenes until the finale.

Too much jumbled banter between Downey and Paltrow. And too many of those scenes had nothing to do with moving the movie forward.

Still, Downey was hilarious but Sam Rockwell stole the show. When he walked out to speak at the Stark Expo I was dying laughing. That guy deserves to be a much bigger star in Hollywood.

I've really liked that guy ever since "Jerry & Tom" and he was spectacular in "Galaxy Quest". Quality actor with a great sense of humor.

That was about the only thing I laughed at in the movie.

Wow, tough crowd in here, which is no surprise. Saw it last night with the wife, brother, and his girlfriend, and we all, including everyone in the theatre, loved it. Rampant laughs throughout, thanks to the timing of everyone in the cast. The action scenes, although few, were pretty darn cool. The theatre went nuts when IM and War Machine went bananas on the drones.

Awesome movie. I swear some peoples expectations are way too high for summer popcorn flicks. Even the first Iron Man was a light on action, funny popcorn movie, yet people are upset that this is more of the same

This might have been my biggest problem with the movie itself. Remember Spider-Man 2, X-2, and The Dark Knight actually taking what the first movie did and built upon it? Well, that didn't really seem to be the case here. The first one was all about Stark building his actual Iron Man suit and Stane stealing his technology and using it to try and overtake him. That failed, and this time Hammer does the same thing. All the meanwhile, Stark has to work with his failing heart as he takes on everybody.

They don't really advance anything. Instead they recycle it, completely waste a villain, and an hour in they do a complete 180 and start telling an Avenger story. The jumbling storyline was so SM3-esque that it's kind of hard to ignore.

This is kind of what I meant when I was saying that watching the trailers almost had you see each scene work together, but they didn't quite cohere as we expected them to when we filled in the holes in our minds before we saw the movie. So seeing the trailers didn't help, and not seeing them would have made it worse because we didn't see all of these shots before, thus we're trying to catch up with the movie's progression as it skips around.

Either way made it difficult to watch, light and fun as it tried to be. It was good, but needed a lot of ironing out (EDIT: no pun intended lol). It was almost like they shot the trailer first and then said, "Okay... here will be some scenes in the movie, now how will we make the rest of the movie around it?" and failed at doing so.

Good thing the successful movie business is all about learning from your mistakes when you work on another sequel. I wouldn't mind if IM3 came out in 2012 if it had to, but I think people are burned out by the wit and charm that is in this movie whether they release it in two or four years. You know it's just going to tie in more with the Avengers concept, so we'll kind of be following two movies in one next time. Just be careful how you take care of your next movie, Marvel.

thx "B"... i did watch Avatar (3x) amd must say, Wooow! well worth the purchase for a blu ray disc. the story was simple and engaging, not over done like Lord of the Rings (all 3) which i could never get into. the visuals and sounds pushed my home theater to the max!!! very well put together by James Cameron.

as for Iron-Man 2, as expected the reviews aren't favorable. sounds as though alot of the good scenes were shown in the trailer which is a big problem in promoting a action movie prior to release. if i do see it at theaters, i'll catch it during a matinee...

I only watched the first trailer for this film so the action sequences weren't spoiled for me. Those sequences were great, the plot was solid, but the movie was dragged down somewhat by the dialog.(The is usually the bane of most films.)

Cast was strong, wished the Hammer character was written as being more serious and subtle instead of a clown. Rourke and Johansson were standouts for me.

I give it a 7.5, solid, but not great.
