I know - it was more of a..."I wish they'd kill her off but since she's married to MCH they definitely won't" kinda comment.

That Rita **** annoys me. She stuck around with a drug addict abuser but she gets mad a Dexter because he lied about a car accident?
And that he was keeping his apartment.

        Re: Dexter (Season 4)

Well that was a typical season 4 episode- great when it dealt with the TK/main story and mediocre when dealing with all the relationship drama.

Who are they writing this show for? From what I gather it is an almost universal opinion from fans of the show that it is going in the wrong direction with too much relationship drama filler.

I hope Rita dies this season as well. Man she is annoying.

The preview for next week looks great so here's hoping it is.

My god this show is awesome. I know I've said it before, but John Lithgow in every scene that he's in, steals it. just absolutely STEALS it.

The dude scared my girlfriend away from watching the show. He is a creepy old man.

I always say, when is Dexter gonna jump the shark, what more can they come up with (please no spoilers).. but then they just keep adding more.

Adding John Lithgow just makes the show all that much more exciting. He's just much more dynamic than any of the previous seasons villains. by far. Very rarely did I look at them and say WOW, this guy is scary.

Lithgow really gives off a creepy vibe. Reminds me a lot of Robin Williams in that show where he worked at Walmart. I think maybe the older comedians are creepiest like that because you associate them with what we knew of them in the past and it makes you uncomfortable that someone you knew and shared laughs with is a stone cold killer.

Disagree mostly (the relationship drama sets up Trinity's secret perfectly) although the Maria-Angel thing just doesn't work.

The Robin Williams movie you're referring to is One Hour Photo. And yeah, he's most definetley creeping in the movie.

This episode was Dexter at it's finest. I agree with some other users about Rita being a pain in the *** wife. She overreacts way too much as a character.

Well she kind of has every reason to overreact. He kept his apartment, lied about the accident, "cheated on her", and was a "drug-addict". Seems like enough ammo for her to get angry. Regardless though, she is getting annoying...kind of like the wife in Breaking Bad was getting annoying. Just let the man do his work.

                        Re: Dexter (Season 4)

Rita is supposed to be annoying. If she wasn't annoying then Dexter wouldn't be confused about his life.

I think it's absolutely ridiculous to find zero substance in the side stories of the show. Dexter isn't about killing people. It does a good job of pretending to be but it's not. It's about a guy balancing real life with his serial killer life. If you don't have side story then you lose that theme and honestly, the show turns to crap without it.

You may think the show will be better without the side stories, but it won't be. It'll just be a show about a guy killing people and that would last one season and get canceled.

I also disagree completely that Dexter having a family is unrealistic because he is a serial killer. The whole point, and the realization that the FBI has come to learn, is that serial killers are not only loners, but can be much deeper individuals with real lives. The stereotypical serial killer is a dead belief and the Trinity Killer is an example of that. Actually, Lundy's character is an example of how the FBI used to think (and sometimes still thinks) and yet was wrong for decades. Serial killers are demented souls, but they are people just like everyone else.

As for Debra, she's not going anywhere. And it's not because she's married to Michael C. Hall. It's because she's Dexter's sister and is without a doubt the second most important character to the series. She is 1A to Dexter's top billing when it comes to intense moments - the truth is, the writers will make you think something can happen to them, but nothing will.

And it sucks because Deb is incredibly annoying and can't act for **** (all in my opinion, of course).

Other than that, I agree with everything in your post. Very well said.

She is without a doubt the worst actor on the show.

I was actually impressed with her crying scene, but I think that's mostly compared to her acting. And it helps to have Michael C. Hall be there on that scene because his reaction was great - but then again, Hall is a fabulous actor.

I'm mostly impressed with acting on Showtime and HBO. Not sure how they manage it, considering that most actors aren't paid a lot of money to be on those shows and they have extremely tight production schedules. I guess it just comes down to really good casting.

Glad you agree with me on that first point.

See, I thought her crying scene looked/sounded more like she was about to have a heart attack. Granted, I grew up in a house with 2 older sisters and a mother who cried all the time so maybe I've just seen a lot of crying to think that if I was MCH that is how Deb's actress cried in real life, I'd pull a Dexter on her.
