I watched the trailer for this the other day - it looks like the same confusing bull**** that they've been spewing out for a while. I'll give it a few weeks, though.

I think this will be the final year for this show. It appears the hype is gone and viewers deserted this series the last two chapters. I thought the last chapter was one of the worst chapters outside of chapter two and this show needs to get back to interesting in a hurry. I don't even know how to fix it or exactly what I want. I just know that I don't look forward to it like I used to and if the first few episodes are lackluster, I'm done with it.

They really **** up by having "closure" for each season - and then they try to get the characters to start anew and it just doesn't work. It should just be one very large ongoing story line (like Lost). It just doesn't make sense in the current format. It doesn't work at all.

It's possible that Heroes might have been off if the series were more like the canceled Heroes: Origin.

A weekly series that spent time on one character's story each episode inside a bigger story arc that connects all of the people.

It would provide the same thing while making the story progress faster because each week would be a new dilemma and solution.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I could have sworn that originally the idea was to have a new batch of people every season, that would have allowed them to do more along the lines of what you are saying instead of taking the same group and shoving them into even more outlandish events at every turn.

                Or this. Agreed.

I think they fell in love with their characters. They tried to stick with that plan a bit by introducing new people, but they just haven't found a way to move away from one central villain and hero.

Sylar is a cool bad guy and all, but it's always him and it's always the same story of him trying to kill someone. It just got old.

But, people still like the show so if they enjoy it, that's cool. I can't. I found it too predictable and essentially circular storytelling.

They lost me last season, I'm not going to watch this year. I might watch it on DVD or at hulu or something eventually, but it isn't getting DVR space this season.

                    Re: Heroes Season 4

The first season was incredible because it introduced the characters and everyone had an interesting individual story line that also tied together extremely well with an epic event at the end. I think they really need to get away from this epic event business and go back to smaller and more interesting story lines. Not sure. Maybe they need to just start killing off characters and rotating newer interesting good and bad guys throughout.

The biggest question I have with this show is what is it all about? There just doesn't seem to be any point anymore. And the secrecy of the Petrelli family and the company isn't cool and interesting anymore. It's annoying, along with the time traveling, plot holes and Claire's whining.

24 recaptured it's magic last year after I quit midway through season six. Hopefully Heroes will do the same.

You know, when i watch this show, it always leads me back into a show about people with abilities that was a much better watch - The 4400, and that leads me to get more angry with what the show has become.

It was on Syfy (SciFi then).

It ran from 2004-2007 (four seasons).

In the pilot episode, what was originally thought to be a comet deposits a group of exactly 4400 people at Highland Beach, in the Cascade Range foothills near Mount Rainier, Washington. Each of the 4400 had disappeared at various times starting from 1946[4] in a beam of white light. None of the 4400 have aged from the time of their disappearance. Confused and disoriented, they remember nothing between the time of their disappearance and their return.

I've always been interested in watching but haven't made the time.

The fourth season ended on a major cliffhanger which was not answered on air because of the series cancellation. But, for fans of the show:

                          • Welcome to Promise City is the third book based on the series, and the first set after the events of the series' final-episode cliffhanger. It was published on July 28, 2009.[20]
                          • Promises Broken is the fourth book based on the series, and the second set after the events of the series' final-episode cliffhanger. It is scheduled for publication in November 2009, and is being touted by its author as a "grand finale" for the series.[21]

The last season aired in 07, then the writers strike hit and the show died and ended on a cliffhanger.
